I want to pursue an air traffic control career. What major should I choose in college, and any suggestions to which colleges I should apply to?

Visit www.atccti.com for a list of schools that offer Air Traffic Control degrees. Graduate from one and you'll get in with the FAA. ERU is one but not the only one.

From what I have read, air traffic controllers is one of the few jobs that pays well that DOES NOT REQUIRE a college degree.
Maybe if you are/have been a pilot?
You need good eyesight, good hearing, good conversation skills, fast thinker, able to take charge, work long hours with stops (restroom, whatever), be determined and committed.
