I want to paint my bare white walls with a color that will go with the carpet...I'm stumped and need some help from anyone that is willing to comment. This is for our bedroom, the carpet is a pinkish/purple with a little green and off shades of red - I took a picture and have uploaded it to show you guys for help. I'd love to hear what you would do. Here's what the carpet looks like, http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d13/primped/carpetls.jpg

Roger,
To avoid becoming loud or overpowering, I'd suggest keeping your walls fairly light and neutral, using an antique white or a very pale shade of one of the top 2 predominant colors in the carpet, and then accenting the room by use of one or both of these methods:

1. Make 1 wall an accent wall; covering with a nice companion wallpaper, or faux-finished in a blend of 3 or 4 shades of the dominant color.

2. Consider painting the room's trim. If you go a bit bolder with your wall color, white trim will set it off, especially adding something like a white crown moulding with a stripe of the main color applied to one of the narrow facets.

For the most part, you'll want to try and keep whatever you do fairly simple, and keep any bold accents restricted to things like a single bright-color chair, artworks or their frames, area rugs, or a bedding ensemble.

Hope this helps you!

Being the carpet has such an array of colors. I would take purple and put that on the wall where your bed is, and do the other 3 wall in a winter white. Windows should be the same as the color behind your bed. It can be any color you wish. Then you can add more color with pillows on your bed. Silk flowers in a pretty vase on the dresser.
Hope that helped a little.

First, choose your flooring before you choose your exact paint colour. I personally will never recommend laminate type floors. I've had them for 3 years and I have having them replaced this summer. They chip too easy, they move, the manufacturer does not follow their own warranties. If you can, have hardwood floors installed, they retain their value and easy to maintain or repair should something happen. If you choose carpet I would suggest cream or a light taupe. It will look good should you change your paint in the future. Once you have your flooring, then pick the shade of paint. Someone at the paint store can help you find the right shade. Good Luck!

I don't have pictures but anyone of these colors would work . .
One room done in a mauve
One room in mint green
One room in light blue
and One in off white or tan.
OR
I had that carpet thru 2 connected rooms. Had mint green walls & curtains. Had blue furniture upholstery. Connected with a wallpaper border that had plum, maroon, mauve plus various greens on off white background. Looked great. Then my 'theme' varied: seashell in dining room & big cats (lion, cheetah, black panther, etc...) in living room. 3 years later, I pulled out the carpet & did laminate floors - - the walls are still cool.

Walls pick lighter color of one carpet color but be aware of other colors in that room so you won't have too much same color in one room and other shades for accent.

Holy Cow! Well, I have lived with worse.
1] paint walls the lavender or green [ lavender will blend better]
2] use ivory or cream in bedding/curtains
3] get some throw pillows in the lavender/cream/violet or purple, or prints of those color combos
4] how about some African violets for greenery?
4] save money for a new carpet!

It really depends on you...
If you are a green person then you can use white trim and a light green wall. If you hate green then use a plum with a white trim. and ceiling.
