I didn't think it was wrong in the beginning...but it is now. And I am ashamed of my country as, in many respects, I should have always been. This coming from a die-hard Conservative. But the question was about WWII and this manuever.

For the protectors, life has a flavor the protected will never know. That movie said to us all what Tom Hanks said just as he died," tell private Ryan to go home and lead a life worthy of all those that died to make sure he got home safe and sound. He was really speaking to all of us hoping that we would all live our lives because of those that gave up their tomorrows. Some gave their all, and some are still giving.
We are the land of the free, because of the BRAVE. Bush's' Iraq war was wrong and still is. Have the guts to step up and say so.

The American sniper's shot in that movie, that took out a German sniper by shooting straight through the German's scope was a nice touch, but it was actually done in Viet Nam by Marine Sniper Carlos Hathcock. He was sent to find and neutralize a Viet Cong sniper who was armed with a Russian Moisin-Nagant rifle. Obviously, the VC was aiming straight at Hathcock and ready to fire. This was one of Hathcock's 93 confirmed kills.

The lens on the Russian scope was about 3/4 inch diameter.

I think the beach landings where some of the most realistic showing of some of what went on that day ever to be shown IMO..............it still did not show the immense loss of men on Omaha beach etc but when you stand and look down [as I have] from the top of that cliff and see where the Germans etc where entrenched, it was a bloody sight.

regards

The reality of the beach landings were lifted whole cloth from an earlier Canadian film entitled "Dieppe". You might want to scout around and find a copy of that movie to watch.

I hate the part at the end when the guy asks his wife to tell him he's been a good man. Rather than immediately answering, she just said "What?" Talk about kicking a man when he's down.

Pretty dang awesome, I know. Nazis got owned pretty hardcore. Always a great thing to watch. Tom Hanks blew up a freakin tank with a pistol! (or so I like to pretend)

300 and Shoot 'em Up are movies you might like, if you liked SPR.
