I'm 21 years old, 5'1" and weigh 110 lbs, my BMI is 21.5. I work out but not excessivly (30 min/day). I keep my daily calories between 1750-2000 (mostly healthy stuff). I have a good job, awesome boyfriend, and no issues w/ finances since I still live with my parents. I have verry little stress except for homework since Im in college.

My question is with this lifestyle and stress level...why do I binge eat 1-2 times per week...Im talking huge binges here about 5,000 calories if I could estimate but it could be a bit more or less. This has been going on for 3 years. I have gained weight since I used to weigh 102 (still healthy cause I'm short). I've been to doctors but none of them seem so be able to figure it out. I've also had blood work done and everything came back normal.

I hate this because I wake up the day after a binge and I feel horrible, ugly, antisocial, and actually in physical pain. Why does it happen and how can I make it stop?

There may be several reasons behind this problem, the first is simply that you are not feeding yourself the correct amount of Calories on the days that you work out. Or quite possibly the days you binge eat are the days you have free and nothing to do to occupy yourself, this is very common for people that are used to always having to be busy or surrounded by people. Subconsciously you are replacing busy with food.
The other possible reason is you might be pre Diabetic, this happens when your blood sugars are to high, your body tells you that your hungry when in fact you don't need anything to eat at all. This is a real hard diagnosis, it takes several weeks or months, and might involve you having to check your blood sugars on the days that you want to binge eat, and a few days when you don't.
You can try a couple things and see if this helps, one the days that you work out try to eat some complex carbohydrates, like a pasta salad. This increase the amount of sugar in your system and helps your body from depleting it reserve source. Also at your age you could actually raise you caloric intake to about 2250 a day, with the work load you have and exercising this might correct the problem.
Otherwise, Consult your doctor again, be sincere about this really bothering you and you want an answer and he may refer you to a specialist.

When you feel you are about to binge, is it motivated by hunger or something else?
This is my main concern.. it is common knowledge that if you try and deprive yourself of food you will probably end up bingeing, right. SO if it is hunger that motivates you, maybe you need to keep up with healthy snacks more regaularly (every couple of hours) to keep yourself satisfied. Also contributing is the type of food you binge on; it will manifest its quality in the way you feel the next day. Eating poor quality food most of the day in general isn't the 'right kind' of filling.

Now if the above has NOTHING to do with your beingeing, the problem is considerably more serious and a psychological opinion would be more desirable (need more information in order to give you one; mostly what kind of food you eat and what is running through your head when you binge, are there any sort of 'triggers'?)

Also haven't ruled out boredom.. god I can eat a disturbing amount when bored..

You should see a psychologist or a weight management counselor. A person's relationship with food can be extremely complex. From your note, it is impossible to tell whether your problem is physiological or psychological or some combo of both. You could be undergoing extreme hormone fluctuations that make you crave food. You could be thinking of these binges as a way to reward yourself for being good all week or for doing well on a test or whatever. It can be very complicated. If you are in college, your college medical center should be able to make some recommendations. It is not uncommon for women your age to have issues with food like what you have described.

Have you seen a pyschologist? Most often, eating disorder sufferers need assistance in this area. While things may be good for you now, childhood issues may also play a part. Can you remember a time when your parents, teachers or friends say something to you that can cause you to develop binge eating habits? Have you had weight problems before?

It is good that you address your eating disorder issues before they become more severe and cause you more problems.

You sound like you have an eating disorder. Speak to your doctor and get a reference for a counsellor. Your issues aren't biological, they are psychological.

It is a control issue. You have equated food with emotions and you make yourself feel "guilty" about over-eating. Food is being used as a punishment and to "let yourself go" at times.

Speak to a counsellor and work out what it is that is causing your feelings toward food.

maybe it is obsessive compulsive disorder or maybe it is just a habit that your body is so used to doing that u can't help yourself from stopping since u do it often. im no doctor or anything though.
