Men and women are (obviously!) different, but this doesn't mean that women should be subjugated by men. Most religions are patriarchal and view women as inferior in many ways. Who believes this nonsense in the 21st Century?

Are you mainly refering to the muslim religions where women are kept downtrodden at best? If you want to see what life was really like before the so called "christian " rulers of the Roman Catholic church destroyed it, study the Celtic or Druidic religions. The very first artifacts of any type of god or goddess is of a female. These are the oldest worldwide. The earliest peoples that we know of worshiped both male and female dieties but the female was supreme, as associated to the earth as the giver of life. God says in Genesis that he reached to the dirt (earth) and created man. Was this just a generalization of mankind as in the second account in the Catholic bible? (he created them male and female) There are only a few organized christian based religions today that bestow equality to women and men. The bible says in the letters of Paul that a woman is not to even speak in the church and must keep her head covered. This is further proof of the put down of women. All the recent attention about Mary Magdelene tells what men in christianity think of women having any rightful place next to them as an equal. Find you a copy of the Gnostic gospels and you'll learn a little more on this subject but be warned, christianity has also labeled the gnostics as heretics so they do not recognize them or their writings.

That is half true. In Muslim religions, despite the claims of Muslims that women are equals, they cannot work in the same place as men in Saudi Arabia. It is true that women and men are diffrent, however they are equal in dignitiy alone. A woman cannot take the role of a man, it is physically impossible, and I would like to see a man that you can point to who can give birth. There is a saying that I treasure "A woman was made not from the head, to be superior to, not from the soles of the feet, to be trampled on, but from the side to be loved." A woman is not someone to be joked with, women though admittedly the Bible is not saturated with us, we were influential in the Bible, Deborah, Ruth, Naomi, Michal, Abigail . . .e.t.c. Women have a place in the Bible that is so important, that Men cannot replace us, try hard as they may. You forget Esther, Anna, Mary the mother of Jesus, Elizabeth, Lydia . . . these women influenced the world around them, despite the fact that during their time the Feminist movement was not really blooming all to well ( problem being try it, you get stoned ), so if anyone tells me women aren't equal I say yeah we aren't, We are far greater, G-d knew that Men couldn't take care of kids themselves. But discrimination ? Islam and Judaism infact Judaism is more tolerant.

Your problem is ignorance. I am not knowledgeable about all the world's religions, and not even an expert at ones I am familiar with. So let's talk about the 2 I know about related to this issue.
Hinduism: regards woman as "shakti" power and since times immemorial women have been portrayed as Goddesses and as power behind male gods as their mothers, wives or sisters. I don't see any disrespect here.
Sikhism: Women have been given a place of highest regard as the ones who give birth to kings and all great men, even the name given to all Sikh women-Kaur means Princess, someone worth standing shoulder to shoulder with men, who have been called the "Singh" ie the brave lion. So I can not detect anything that demeans women here either.
So you better clarify what religion you are talking about, for I can not imagine any religion propagating such a philosophy.

Try to read the Holy Bible and do not just give comments which has no truth at all. You are just on your own. Give proof of your comments or you are just showing what you are not. Although Christianity is not a religion because it is a life, but there are religious group who carries Christian dogma that never have committed such accusations you have made above. America is dominant 65% to 75% Protestant religion. How do you equate it now? The Evolutionists are running wild in America. Do you equate them as Christianity?

You are right, that God did not create men and women as equal, if anybody believes so , he or she is completely mistaken. A small example, if you compare the body profile you will come to know the difference, but one thing I will disagree with you is that women are created for pleasure of men. God has specified different roles for both, based on their body profile and the thinking ability. The problem comes when one tries to imitate the other. Nature will never accept changes on the default creation of God. If any body tries to do so, there will always be a repurcation. That is the beauty of God's creation.

So if you have found this out, have you also SEEN the GOD of these religions is an inferior, behavioral mess just like many of it's followers are / happen to be ? This God is and has never been for "equality," THOUGH you have some christian sects over the last 10-20 years who are trying to "reverse" these prejudices, BUT how do you REVERSE those who GAVE the written word AND the prejudicial doctrines to begin with ? Much of this IS "christianity" so to CHANGE all the prejudices, you would have to CHANGE the entire RELIGION, AND the other ones who treat women unfairly....

You did not read it in the Bible or the Torah, maybe in the Koran. When God told Joshua to take over the towns and cities, he was to put to death every living thing in them. From the King down to cat in the barn, now tell me who took the women. The Koran supposes that any male who dies for the religion will be given seven virgins. I don't know about anyone else but I thought one was enough.

You are a very ignorant person (not an insult, you just don't know what you're talking about). Study your religions my friend. Christianity isn't the only one out there. Take a look at native American religions or maybe even Hinduism or Buddhism.
Adios.
