The 1990 was R-12. It may be cheaper to have the system retrofitted to use R-134a than it would be to have it recharged with R-12, as R-12 is getting more and more expensive.

If your car has never been retrofitted, it would have R-12 freon. There should be a decal in the engine compartment, usually yellow with black lettering. It will list the type and capacity of freon as well as the oil charge in the A/C system. R-12 is very expensive since its manufacture was halted by the Montreal Protocol. It is still available and legal to use. It's performance is much better than you will experience if you convert to R-134, but R-134 is cheaper.

I'm going to guess that it originally has R-12. There should be a sticker just in front of the radiator or on the underside of the hood that will tell you. Also, try calling a Lincoln dealer's service shop; they can tell you for sure.
If it takes 134A, a recharge is not too difficult.

you have the final city motor vehicle to be powered by ability of the 5.0 W. that's tricked out to furnish 500hp as is stated above. The supercharger could do the trick, as could ported/polished overall performance heads. A custom exhaust was available as a kit, even nonetheless it may desire to be out of production considering the fact that that's an 18-12 months-previous motor vehicle. you're able to do custom headers and dynamic/articulated exhaust it incredibly is city motor vehicle quiet at idle yet opens up on the throttle. in case you incredibly need to change the engine you may desire to bypass to the 4.6 32V out of a Mk VIII that could truthfully be built out to 500+ HP in a small, mild equipment that botls precise into the city motor vehicle.

That's funny one person says, "im guessing......" it is the R-12 and I don't think you have any choice but to switch to R134 its easy no big deal all that's done is a different size valve screwed on over the existing one and it comes in the kit that you buy.

should be r-134a.
You can get a recharge kit with cylinder, valve, and pressure guage for $20-$30 at autozone.
