A sneeze is a reaction to an irritation (a tickle is classed as an irritation, by the way. It does not have to be anything painful. Even mucus from a runny nose can cause a sneeze.) in the nasal cavities. It is the body trying to remove the irritant. Simple. It is an automatic response just as flinching is to a loud noise. People will sneeze as many times as it takes to clear the problem. I have seen people sneeze time and again one after another for as long as 5 minutes in response to pollen allergens.

Sneezing is a reflex. You have no voluntary control over it. The nose tries to get rid of allergens, foreign bodies etc. These cause what is called a histamine release and sneeze reflex is an effect of that. Some patients of severe allergic rhinitis (aka hayfever) sneeze continuously. The nose also runs incessantly. Steroid nasal sprays and antihistamine tablets are good to control nasal allergy.

I sneeze at least 6 times and have done so all my life. I am 37. I have no idea why this happens but it might have something to do with all my allergies.

The sneeze is eject or propel foreign bodies located within the sinuses.
You body recognizes that you have a cold way before you do and starts to try to get rid of the virus/bacteria etc. the best way it knows how.

Just like a cough is to eject or propel foreign bodies within the lung or airway.

Sneezing is the body's way of "rejecting" something you have
"inhaled." Such as pollen or dust. <}:-})
