Get yourself to an ER (do not drive: have someone drive you)! NOW!
You do not say how young/old you are, but even young people have heart issues. Esp if you have a family history.
The most common symptom of a heart attack in both men and women is some type of pain, pressure or discomfort in the chest. But it's not always severe or even the most prominent symptom, particularly in women. Women are more likely than men to have signs and symptoms unrelated to chest pain, such as:
-Neck, shoulder, upper back or abdominal discomfort
-Shortness of breath
-Nausea or vomiting
-Sweating
-Lightheadedness or dizziness
-Unusual fatigue
Here's more:
Is heart disease something only older women should worry about? No: while heart disease is the leading cause of death for women 65 and older, it's the third-leading cause of death for women 25 to 44 and second-leading cause of death for women 45 to 64. All women, of all ages, should take heart disease seriously.
Twenty years ago, the secretary where I worked (she was in her 20's) had chest pain/tightness, shortness of breath, just felt "tired" all the time ... her doctors repeatedly told her it was "stress" & "nerves." She knows *now* that she was having heart attacks (she had at least 5) & she has since had a heart transplant. (she is doing well, by the way)
Afterwards: once you have been thoroughly worked up for cardiac issues (EKG, labs: enzymes, echo-cardiogram, maybe heart cath) & everything is ok, consider perhaps anxiety.
Good luck with everything. Keep us posted.

Well you know the right answer is to get checked out and that your health is more important than any money in the world.... Tightness to the chest can be many things. I would make sure I walk for 30 minutes a day (light walking... not fast). I would increase my water intake. I'd have oatmeal twice a day for a week and then go down to once a day until you see your doctor. I'd cut out all salt and fat from your diet. I'd include a warm bath and or massage to your daily routine before bed to relax. And I would go to bed early. (maybe read something for pleasure before bed to take your mind off all the stresses of the day.) That might all sound like a lot at once, but if you aren't willing to see a doctor, you need to take action. Stress on the body tends to build up / accumulate over time and manafest at the least suspecting moments.

It sounds like either a heart attack, asthma or pneumonia. Just because you've never had asthma before doesn't mean you don't have it now. I have heard of young people having heart attacks.See a doctor ASAP.

No one's too young for heart disease. But it may also be acid reflux or esophageal spasms.
Are you having any pain in your jaw or shoulder or down one arm?
If you answer yes to any of those, I think I might be calling
9-1-1 or at least go take an aspirin, just in case.
But seriously, you REALLY need to be safe. DEAD is no fun.
Call the hospital or a family member & let someone know what's going on. This could be something, very serious.

Just because you're young does not mean you should rule out heart trouble. It could also be pneumonia or bronchitis. Is it worse when you lie down? Possibly an infection. Any fever? You definitely should go to a doctor. Don't wait. Go ASAP!
