It is a well known fact that "Parents" are the first line of defense in teaching their children to respect the rights of others! obey the law! go to school and get an education not distribute drugs, guns and act like a thug ! or gansta.

don't allow them to run with their running dogs all hours of the night. No child under 18yrs needs to be out in the streets after 10PM and you'd better know exactly who their with, what they're doing. search their rooms ! look for drugs, guns and other inappropiate items. They have no rights to privacy as long as their living under your roof! That is one of the major things thats wrong....oh I need to give them space! bull sh_t !!

they can have all the space they want when they're grown and living on their own. rmake them eat dinner with you as a family, invite their friends to have dinner with you, so you can check them out. I wouldn't let my child hang out with "Crackheads and neither should you.

Yes our children deserve better. they need parents who accept the responsibility to be parents and not expect the government to do it for us. hell they can't even run the country without giving the farm away.

Im not here to be mny children buddy. im here to be their parent, teach them right from wrong, to be a human being, get an education and respect themselves and others, no damn guns, no damn drugs, no dressing like a thug or gansta and talk like an educated human being oh and if you're here from another country learn english for crying out loud unless you want your children to be earning minimum wage for the rest of their lives.

Should we just outlaw vehicles as well? I mean how many innocent children are killed in automobile accidents? ITS AN OUTRAGE AND IT SHOULDN'T BE TOLERATED!!!!

Consider this...

Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals over 2.4 million times every year -- or 6,575 times a day. This means that each year, firearms are used 60 times MORE OFTEN to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives. - National Safety Council

According to the CDC, the total number of gun deaths by homicide, suicide and accidents in 2004 was around 29,000. Now, keep in mind that the gun was only the means of violence. In 2004 there were only 1,100 accidental deaths from guns in the US, meaning that if guns were not a factor, there would still be arond 27,000 violence-related deaths and suicides which occured by using other means.

No one was ever killed by a gun. A gun is a tool utilized by a person who can think and make decisions. It is an inanimate object, like a car, a knife, or an axe, which all are also used as a means commit crime.

Logically, you would have to outlaw cars before you can outlaw guns, because they are responsible for way many more deaths than a gun.

I mean, the government has an obligation to protect citizens from criminals, but how good of a job do they actually do? I agree with background checks, but most of the other laws that are on the books do nothing to stop crime.

Example: The assult weapon ban of 1994. Made guns illegal that held more than so many rounds, made collapsable stocks illegal, made bayonet lugs illegal... Tell me how any of those stipulations prevented crime. Even with the law, those items could still be bought from private people and on the black market. All it did was prevented an honest person from buying such guns - like my AR-15 has all of those feature, but it is no more prone to cause crime than a hunting rifle that was never illegal.

Now, lets look at this logically NOT IDEALISTICALLY. If more people began concealing and carrying weapons legally (in most states you have to apply for a license and take a class) do you honestly think a criminal would feel as free to commit a violent crime knowing that there is a good chance that his victim has the means to protect themselves? Yes, crime would still occur, BUT it has been proven in states such as Florida, Texas, and West Virginia that the greater the percentage of people who have concealled weapons permits is complemented by a lower percentage of vilent crime.

If a man were to break into your home in the middle of the night, and you did not know if he was armed or not, would you rather have a cell phone, a baseball bat, or a gun?

Virginia Tech is a prime example of how gun laws fail. The university strictly enforced a no weapon policy on its premeses. Consequently, the honest students were not armed, even if they were licensed, it still was not permited. One criminal broke the rules with a gun he bought illegally and slaughtered 32 students. Had any one of those students or witnesses been armed, they would have been able to neutralize the threat and saved at least some lives.

Japan: Guns have been completely banned for many year. Last month, the mayor of Nagasaki was shot by a gang member. The honest people gave their guns up, but the gangs still have them.

Everyone goes on about kids respecting their parents, but nobody talks about parents respecting their kids. If you don't value your children's feelings and ideas then you're a lousy 'parent' who just did the deed, got pregnant, and popped one (or 10) out, then beat the crap out of them, neglected them, called them dirt, then expect them to become upstanding members of society. How could they, if they were treated worse than animals?
Violence begets violence and peace begins at home.

50 "kids" every week include teens in gangs shooting each other. lets crack down on all drug dealers and gang members. life in prison or the death penalty, and that is not that expensive, tents, lunch meat and barbwire, no color tv's or air conditioning.

yes there are too many young people killed a year, but most of them are gang members and involved in the drug trade. do i get upset about them dieing? not at all. if they would all kill off each other and stop bothering the innocent people i would sit back and look forward to reading the news every day. guns are tools. used or misused the blame should be on the person pulling the trigger. more kids are killed in car accidents every year but very few would say lets get rid of all cars.

Now get the stats from countries than ban firearms that show all the other ways people were violently killed. You know, knives, clubs, hatchets even swords. But you'll find that violent death stats have not gone down but have gone up in those countries. Maybe not firearm deaths, but all violent deaths.

Let's just outlaw death. No one will be allowed to die. Makes about as much sense.

Most violence against kids is committed by other kids. So the best place to start is with the parents--- teach your kids to respect other kids and not to shoot them, and teen-on-teen violence will go down. Too many people today like to blame TV or video games or popular music when it is really just that the kids are being brought up without strong role models or good ethics.

We can finally allow teachers who possess the necessary permits and training to carry weapons. When they do, the little punks who think they are so bad, will have another thing coming when that teacher they want to get back at has the ability to fight back. Once these punks know that a teacher may be armed, we will start seeing less violence in schools.
