I enjoy the seafood in Thailand and like the idea of netting my own prawns in the tank at Tesco, Udonthani - How fresh is that ?

Just about everywhere in the world these days a good percentage of the seafood comes from farms, since you rarely know whether it's from the sea or farmed when eating at restaurants, I guess it's hard to say which tastes better, usually if it's fresh it tastes pretty good. As far as health risks, fish, like anything else should be eaten in moderation, and there are also many health benefits from eating fish you should consider. I think seafood here in Thailand is as good as anywhere I've ever eaten seafood, although I would say the Cantonese prepare the best seafood dishes I've ever had, but that's just my opinion. Eating seafood here is much cheaper than most other countries, although by Thai standards it's not that cheap, but the incredible variety and delicious ways they prepare seafood are well worth the price and very good value for the money. Happy eating.

Seafood in Thailand had always taste fresh, even after cooking. I ate seafood in many countries and still find that the seafood I had come across while in Thailand as better tasting and cheap too.

Hi I have eaten a lot of seafood in Thailand and found it cheap and well prepared the only thing to watch is the un cooked salad it is most likely washed in un clean water, Ask for it to be washed in bottled water. Good eating.

you wont find any better except maybe in japan and that is reflected in the price. Before I'd stayed in Thailand I was a typical English diner and would only sometimes eat fish from a chippy .I certainly wouldn't eat anything that looked like a wild animal, with claws and things. Now I love most sea-food,but don't like spitting bones out much, they still make me gag if I get one in the gullet
I'm not too keen on oysters and pla duk(freshwater???? catfish)which to me taste like eating mud-pie when you were a kid.I don't worry much about freshness too often because Thai's are usually very fastidious about their food and would be too ashamed to sell ropey produce
