pills). How has it been for you? Has it worked? Tell me anything you can on the experience....I ask this bcz my friend suffers from deep anxiety & has been prescribed this by her doctor. I am so happy that she can start to have a normal life, & I wanted to see what it's been like for others so I can share with her. Thank you & I appreciate your answers.

I have taken Xanax, on an as-needed basis, for about a year now. I use it only "to get me over the hump" when I have especially bad episodes of anxiety or depression. Recently, I had issues with it working for only a couple of hours and then no longer feeling the effect. Two days ago, I spoke with my doctor and got changed to Xanax Extended Release. It's the same dose, but it is delivered continuously throughout a period of 24 hours. I like it because I don't feel that "buzz" feeling after taking it, but I do feel more relaxed throughout the day.

Besides the Xanax, I take Lexapro everyday. That works pretty well for me. I recommend letting your, your friend's, family physician do the prescribing while the counselor works through the issues. I'm not a big fan of psychiatrists because I don't want someone prescribing medicine when they only know my mental history and not my physical history.

Hi Honey. I have taken both drugs for my depression and anxiety. They are both different types of drugs tho. The Paxil is an anti-depressant while the xanax is a anti-psychotic. The Paxil takes awile (4-6 weeks)to be affective while the xanax is same day (20 mins). The xanax could be scary as it is addictive. If she takes it as prescribed and doesn't abuse it she should be fine. If you notice she is really spaced out the dosage on the xanxa may be too high. The PAxil will take awhile and may not even be the one for her, I had to change medicines 4 different times before I found the onbe for me. Just be there for her and support her and she should be fine

I have taken Paxil for about ten years and it's working very well. My diagnoses are Major Depression, Recurrent, and Dysthymic Disorder, but I have a lot of anxiety symptoms in addition to the depression symptoms. Paxil works well on both.

I started paxil about 2 weeks ago?

It makes me sleepy earlier. Instead of going to sleep around 11, I typically go to bed around 8:30-9pm.

Also, my moods are sort streamlined, instead of being down all of the time, I'm just sort of BLAH.

But, I go through my day, and I feel "ok" when I come home.

I think also that my eating habits are changing. But I haven't been on it long enough yet to know.

paxil is one of the better anxiety drugs used today. paxil will make you more hungry and make you gain weight but the results are worth it.

Both these drugs made me worse and worse. I'm now withdrawing from them and it's hell. they are both very addictive. Look for natural alternatives. These drugs will make you worse in the long run and they are next to impossible to get off of.

I took it when I was a teenager, it worked for a while, then stopped. I was switched to Efexor. Don't know if that helps. I don't really remember any side effects.

I took Zanax a few years ago and it completely stoned me out. I was out of it and could have cared less about anything.
