MY SILVER CAVITY FILLING FROM MAYBE 11+ YEARS AGO JUST BROKE OFF...JUST A CHUNK...I WAS FLOSSING! NOW WHAT DO I DO!? CAN I EAT? ETC?

I WOULD GO BUT ITS 11PM AT NIGHT! AND THEY ARENT OPENED TOMORROW! 3/4 OF IT IS LEFT IN THE TOOTH STILL!

WILL THE REMAINING CHUNK FALL OUT, SHOULD I PULL IT OUT? WHAT IF I SWALLOWED A SMALL PERIOD SIZED BIT OF THE SILVER FILLING?

If it doesn't hurt, you're OK to wait until Monday. You can eat and brush normally, just be careful of the spot you broke.

I think the silver filling is called a amalgam which I heard can be bad for your health. Try to avoid eating much so it doesn't spread. One of the user said theres a temporary filling material i advise u use that till monday and go see a dentist immediately

Yes you may eat but be careful not chew on that side as it may cause the remaining piece to dislodge as well. That's about all you can do until you have your filling replace. Continue to brush area b/c area is now more prone to bacteria build up. You can still floss but pull floss through rather than up to avoid popping filling out.

Silver fillings are usually 50% mercury. Rinse your mouth out, so you don't swallow any of the debris, they're often harmful. Go to the dentist pronto! Ask them to replace it with a white resin filling, they're not harmful to you and they blend in. Just a little bit more expensive though.

Go to the dentist. Yes you can eat just make sure you chew on the opposite side you filling is on. Good luck!

You can eat but I would recommend that you eat on the opposite side. See your dentist on Monday.

you can buy temporary filling material at the drug store. use it until you can see the dentist on monday.
