We would have found an other obsession, hobby, merak, avocation, özel, quest, zevk, distraction, delice doğan, diversion or addiction.
However, being a reflection of society, Y/A does have its positive and negative elements. But enough about trolls.
I have been amazed at the quality of the answers. So full of insight and information. I have learned so many things that have inspired me to ask so many more questions.
Having spent a lot of time in Turkey over the years. I am looking forward to going back with an improved knowledge and understanding of it's geography and culture. I have always enjoyed my experiences there (except for those days in 99 but even those days enriched me).
It is like a 24 hour bar where one can go and relax, and take a break.
I feel that some of my contacts I will visit (if they will let me), and maybe some will visit me here in the USA.
As for the trolls in just makes me appreciate my friends on YA that much more.
If only you guys could help me with my Turkish.
When I was suspended, I was going to boycott YA, and it was a good friend that convinced me to come back. I am so thankful they did. I would have missed you all.
BTW, Bilmemek ayip degil, sormamak ayip.

Yes it is. I thank YA for acquainting me with some of the contacts I've communicated with. Especially Leprechaun, Istanbulbogazi and Irun, whom I haven't written back to yet. There is also Ishaq A and Slick RIck who are enigmatic persons as well.
This is not meant to slander anyone. This is my honest opinion:
This is where I admit, I found the Truth . My biggest disappointment was about how Armenians are in this virtual life. Being in Azerbaijan, it isn't something new when you hear Azeris and Chechens describe them to me. Initially as a foreigner, even as an aid worker before, I still gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought everything was one-sided. But then coming here, I realized a lot of what they said were true in a virtual way. From what I've read these past few months, I've seen nothing but back-stabbing, deviousness, beating around the bush, disruptiveness, and vindictiveness. Sadly, those were descriptions told to me when I was there. I guess I have to concur. The ADL feedback was also right, if you don't accept their views, they intimidate and harass you, just like they do here. Sad really.
Apart from the hate mails, they all proved to be nasty lot except for Mercury, who was accomodating and very nice. We even have the same profession. ^_^. You don't build bridges with aggression, apparently most of them do. They weren't a good example of who they say they are.
I've learned a lot about Russians since I started and my views have been widened to how proud of they are of Russia, it exposed some good and bad but I'm glad to have found out.
As for the Filipinos, well, nothings changed. Their attitudes still the same here and everywhere I guess, the good, especially the bad. If you think these guys are bad, don't let a Filipino troll latch on to you.
The Turks, Azeris and the Chinese? Nothings changed either, they're still the same kind of patient, accomodating and hospitable people I have come to know and be acquainted with in real life as well as in this virtual life we have.
I'm glad answers shed some light on some things as well as opinions.

Addiction is just the correct word, dear. I remember how life was before Yahoo.
I take my tea-breaks in this section (and I take a lot of them, too, if you have seen how often I appear here). Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I need ADSL connection for my work, so I can't log off. Before, I used the telephone to connect, tv to follow the news, encyclopedias and acquantainces to find out unknown subjects, but now I can do these in a shorter time, more effectively and of course, I appreciate the chance to meet lots of people from all over the world whom in real life I wouldn't have the chance to meet.
I have learned a lot from you all, thank you!
It IS possible to go back to the "stone age", or rather the "paper age", but I would rather stay here.

Well, some people on here already know each other even before coming on Yahoo Answers (Hanibal & Morticia). I think if we never met each other on here, who knows, maybe I would have dropped out of school and become a bimbo? :-D I really cannot say how this has impacted me. Only God knows that.

My answer is I don't know. I guess I am lucky to have met (online) such wonderful people. Maybe we should also thank Yahoo for that.
