Because the job is not done, and won't be for a long while. Funny, but people ***** and moan about our troops being in Iraq and Afghanistan now for *gasp* six whole years. Why didn't you and the rest of the liberal democrats ***** when we maintained a military presence in Germany for almost 50 years after WW2? I will tell you why. You love the freedoms you enjoy, but hate the people that provide them! Funny, isn't it? To hate the very people that provide your way of life?

the objective hasn't been completed. same reason we still have our soldiers in Kosovo, a result of Slick Willie's ouster of his own pet dictator, Slobodan Milosevic, and his incessant bombing of their country, and now our soldiers must keep the peace that naturally wouldn't be there. Nice going Bill...aren't you glad your bleeding hearted liberal mafia in the USA didn't put on their sandals to march against you when you did exactly what Bush did?

Because the invasion of Iraq and removal of Saddam created a situation of chaos and disorder that makes it very difficult for US forces to leave. They are needed to train Iraqi personnel and stabilize the situation. And this will take a while...

navy lifer, thank you for your service to all of our freedom. spend five years in USMC.
you stole my answer about Germany and Japan. it is amazing how those who would never fight to defend this country, cry so much about those who will.
does it confuse anyone that the military is all voluntary? those who are putting their lives on the line, do it because the feel freedom is worth dieing for. there is right and wrong in the world, good and evil. i know that pis ses some people off but that is the way it is.

Again, this is why we are there.
We have been under attack by Islamic extremists for over 30 years. Look back to the Marine Barracks bombing in Beirut, to the Iranian hostage standoff, countless embassy bombings, WTC bombing, USS Cole, 9/11. When will it end? The idea of taking out Hussein, did not have anything to do with 9/11 i agree, but the ends do justify the means here in my eyes. Here is why.
Since we have sent our troops to Iraq, where have the terrorist attacks against the U.S. occured? - In Iraq, on their own side of the world. Terrorist groups from all over the Middle East are focusing their efforts against U.S. forces in Iraq. THAT IS THE PLAN. If they want to fight us fine, we'll have the fight, but instead of having them taking up arms (or airplanes) against innocent U.S. civilians, we are sending our professional military to do the job it was meant for - to destroy our enemies.

Good Lord have mercy, you must really be STUPID. It would be a total waste of anyone's time to explain the reasons to you, because you aren't capable of understanding. Stick your head back up your butt like all good Liberals do.

Because we can't allow idiots other than ourselves to control Iraq and Afghanistan and make them basis to attack US interest. Would you be willing to pay three to four times the price of gas if we lose oil supply from Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries?

I keep asking that same question! "Honey" why are you still in Iraq; isn't bin laden in Afrghanistan? and things like that.
but so far no one has given me an adequate response; I guess they just love playing war and military stuff
too bad though, they are missing a great opportunity of ridding the world of one of the worst animals since the coward Hitler killed hmself; but they aren't even looking for old Osama and all the time I thought that was the goal. Get the bad guy. How naive am I?
