Shedding 40lbs might seem like an impossible task, but it is EASILY possible. First you must research about weight loss and fat storage. I suggest you spend a good 2-3hours reading about the science behind gaining and losing fat.
Now after you've done that and have become more familiar with weight loss, you will realize you need to do 3 things to lose weight as efficiently as possible:
1) Increase activity level with regular exercise. I suggest hitting the gym 5x per week. Throw some muscle building exercises in there as well. Weightlifting will give you a more toned look and the added muscle will increase your metabolic rate.
2) EAT LESS! This is the most important factor to losing weight. Your body burns a set number of calories per day which is called your "Maintenance level." You want to be UNDER this maintenance level every day, but not overly under! You don't need to starve yourself, and doing so could cause severe complications. You need to be 200-500 calories below your maintenance.
3) EAT CLEAN! This means, NO junk food what so ever. No ice cream, no candy, no soda, no sugars, etc. Eat healthy foods only. Make sure to consume lots of fruits, vegetables, and water, as they will all make you feel fuller and reduce your cravings.
Follow these 3 rules and you'll shed the pounds faster than you think. It may be tough sticking to this plan at first, but rest assured, your body is a creature of habit and you will adapt to this diet within 2-3weeks.

Hi, well i ain't gonna lie it's gonna be tuff. I did so you be able to do it aswell. Find the exerise that really hurts all your muscles the next day. That way you know that it's making your body work. For me it was hiking for about five Km or 2miles a day and double on the weeekend, make sure there is a few massive hills involved because that is great cardio.

Try riding a bike instead of driving your car to places you normally go. I lost 50 pounds in 4 months doing it.
Also watch what you eat, cook your food if you can, limit fast food or any junk you don't really need to eat. It works.

Weight Watchers is probably the most sensible way to lose weight, and learn to eat healthy. If you go to the meetings, not only are they very knowledgable, but everyone there is so supportive. Try it, what have you got to lose???

Eat healthy....like 4 small HEALTHY meals a day, cut out junk food and work out for 30-60mins a day.

walk as much as you can and don't eat less than 3 hours before you go to bed (your body doesn't burn the calories because you're not doing much while you're sleeping.. Eat healthy too. That's what I do. lowfat diets work, and low carb diets work....... if you stick to them. Good luck!
