Say for example an illegal immigrant lives in Maryland, but doesn't have a driver's license yet (and is are old enough to have one now), He travels to say .. New York, can he get hislicense from New York (NY allows illegals to obtain a driver's license)? Would that person have problems once he goes back to MD? Would he be able to drive without any problems or does a license have to be switched/issued from the state of MD? How long can he drive using that NY license?

Most states require that the member change their license to the present state within 30 days of arriving in state. The only exeption to this is Military. They are not required to change their license. New York state does give driver licenses to illegals, however, they also require that person live in the state for six months.

Most states, in order to issue a drivers license, require proof of living within the state such as a rental receipt or utility bills. So it would be hard to get an NY license if you didn't live in NY. You can drive in any state in the US, as far as I know, with a license from any other state as long as the license is valid. Best bet is to drive legally and safely so no one even asks you for your license.

Most states require that you prove residence and turn in your drivers license from another state to do the simplist application. If you say you lost your license in the move, it varies.
At one time, I was moving from Illinois to Iowa and had a job with a taxi company, so I needed a commercial license. I took my commercial license test in Illinois and was given a temporary. I went to Iowa and only had to take the written and turned in the temp. Illinois license. Later I got my permanent Illinois license and my Iowa license and carried the pair for 3 years till the Illinois expired.
Most states require that you carry a license for an address in that state and most require that if you are stopped, the registration for the car, the drivers license and the state being driven in have 2 of the 3 the same. Most also require that any change of address, including moving into the state, be taken care of in 30 days.

You cannot get a license from any state unless you are a resident of that state. (Some states make certain exceptions, for example foreign visitors who do not have a license from their home country.)
Visitors can drive all over the US, but if you live in a state, you must have a license from that state.

I don't know if every state is different or not. Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas Require you to change it over within 30 days. You could log on to your state's department of public safety web site and there will usually be a link to driver's license FAQ and info.

It depends on the states. Some states communicate this Information with each other, some don't. You should check the DMV website to see if you state has an agreement with any others.

Why do you keep asking questions about illegals? Tell them to go back where they came from, and if you're such good friends with them you can go too.
