can't we all just get along little doggie? Is this a cowboy's peace mantra?

"Git along little doggie". Wow that brings back memories. Yes I believe it was and may still be the cowboy's peace mantra, as they were hearding cattle on the range. Although I have only seen it in the movies, I suspect that mantra was what got them through those long nights and cattle drives to the rail head. It does bring up memories of a peaceful , quiet time.
