Previously I had millions of colors. I've reverted everything, the monitor drivers are fine (and unchanged). I used windows system restore more than once and set it to a sooner date. I've obviously tried desktop settings-->resolution, but still 32 bit and 16 bit are my only choices. There are no update drivers for my monitor (though it's just a plug and play, so I'm sure there is no problem there).
Using Windows XP, with >100 gb of free space.
Integrated ATI radeon express 200
3500+ amd athlon 64 processor

Anyways, colors are weird and it's bothering me.
Thanks a bunch pplz

So I've rebooted, and as I pointed out the newest drivers are already installed.
But I didn't know that 32 bit was the highest. Now I'm thinking maybe it has to do with the monitor :-|
So I'm gonna start with finding if anything's loose (which I already had) and then get into hardware, which will be difficult principally because I can't do anything with monitor drivers and see the outcome ☺!
Anyways, it's hopefully just a loose vga cord or something.

Rolled back/checked updates for all drivers (to no avail, as there was no roll-back saved and no updates online or on the computer)

I've uninstalled many files which I had downloaded, also to no avail.

Nothing is seperate from the computer but the mouse, keyboard, microphone, and plug and play monitor.

All modems are well connected.
Have pressed 'auto-reset' on the monitor several times (out of mostly despair, I think..)

Thanks for ur time ^_^

And the properties are already 32 bit and 1024 by whatever.
It seems like I tried everything but the obvious? What do I do..?

32 bit is pretty much the highest a video goes. Before that you had monochrome, 256, 8 bit, 16 bit, and lastly 32 bit. Maybe you need to change the screen resolution, which is usually in the same TAB you change color quality. In a regular Display, it normally is set to 1024X768. Also check the refresh rate, typically set at 60Hz. Only go higher if your monitor supports it. Typical LCDs only go to 60Hz.

This will happen on certain games...
Some use 256 colors and 800x600 screen...

You want 32 bits - This will give you over 17 million colors and set your scree to 1024x768...Joe

If you have a separate video card you might have to reinstall the driver. Do you have a disc for it? Or if it is onboard maybe the mobo disc will have drivers.

This happens when you install a new game or program. They automatic change the settings for that program. Check what you just installed and get rid of it (un-install).

This happened to me recently.
