In John: 1 we read :
19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

Yes, John says that he is not Christ and not That Prophet? We can understand from this that Christ is not that prophet also. Then who was he?

Prophet Mohammad ..........he was.

Mohammad is foretold in the following scriptures also..........

Muhammad is mentioned by name in the Old Testament
Songs of Solomon Chapter 5 verses 16:
"His mouth is sweet,he is altogether lovely, this is my beloved, this is my friend,oh Daughters of Jerusalem."

Translation Hebrew:
" Hikko Mamittakim Vi Kullo Muhammadim Zehdoodeh wa Zehraeeh,Bayna Jerusalem"

Notice that the word Muhammad is mentioned in this verses as in it's original language(Hebrew)

"......Furthermore it is declared that the coming of Mohammad under the name of 'AHMAD' and that his name is specifically recorded in 'TAWRAH' and 'INJIL' as the prophet of GENTILES [ an-nabi, ul-ummi, interprated by later orthodox as the 'unlettered prophet'] Nevertheless, the Jews [ and perhaps by implication, the Christians also seek to conceal the witness of thier scriptures and are guilty of
misquoting and even wilfully perverting them."--[Moahammadanism, An Historical Survey, by Hamilton A.R.GIBB,pg-53]

John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever"

John 15:26 "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me"

John 14:26 "But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

John 16:7-14 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. How be it when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you."

" That God finding that the mildness of Isa had not proved effectual, had now sent him [prophet] who was the comforter promised by him [ Isa], to protect his followers from further prosecution, and to propagate the doctrine of the prophets and of Isa, who all taught that there was only one God ruling the world by his providence, a rewarder of the just and punisher of the evil-doers.[ An Account of The Rise And Progress of Mahometanism with the life of Mahomet- by

"....the work has happily begun, the great God hath sent you a
prophet to conduct you, such as the sun never beheld. Edris, Noah, Abraham, Ismael, Moses, Isa had those charachter imprinted on them that we reverence thier memories and esteem, each of them truly great, but never ever equald Mahomet, the last and chiefest Apostle of God."--[ Ibid, pg-109]

" Deut. XXXiii-2, God is said to have come from 'Sinai', to have appeared in 'Sier' and manifested himself in 'Paran'which they interpret that God gave the Law to Moses in 'Sinai', that in 'Sier' which are mountains near Jerusalem, he gave the Gospel to 'Isa' and thereby
further illustrated the Law [ in token of which 'Isa' himself was
circumcised and he himself said that he came not to destroy the Law of Moses but to confirm it], lastly they say that by 'Paran' are meant the mountains near Meccah, where the same Law was perfected and magnified by thier prophet Mahomet, who is the fullness of the Law of God."--[Ibid, pg-162]

" Isaiah XXi,7, we read --And he saw with a couple of horsemen a chariot of Asses and the chariot of Camels......whereby the rider upon an *** they understand Jesus Christ, because he did so ride to Jerusalem, and by the rider on the camel, Mahomet, because he was an Arabian, which poeple used to ride upon camels."--[Ibid,

"We can understand from this that Christ is not that prophet also. Then who was he?"

No. Christ Himself is "That Prophet".
The Jews know that Elijah must first come before the Messiah but the Torah also spoke of a prophet who would come and the Jews thought that the Messiah and the prophet were two different people but Jesus who is the Messiah is "That Prophet".

John the Baptist, when he was in prison had some trouble with this himself. He may have thought that the Messiah would come and restore all things, that is return the kingdom to Israel. This was not the case. Neither John nor Jesus disciples understood who it was or what it truly meant to “restore the kingdom to Israel” John sent his disciples to ask Jesus if He was the Messiah or should they look for another? John may have been thinking as well when it was not as he thought it should be ,that Jesus was “The Prophet” but not the Messiah. Jesus sent the message of assurance to him by saying “Tell John that the deaf hear, the lame walk, the dead are raised and so on. What assurance would this give? These are the works of the prophets but these works were also testifying of what He is doing as Messiah. He raises the dead to show that He is the resurrection and the life. He divides the loaves and fish to show that He is the bread of Life, He raised the paralyzed man up to show that He is the One who forgives sin. Who can forgive sin but God? This “Prophet” is different than the Old Testament prophets. The Old Testament prophets did these things to show that there message was true and that they were sent by God but Jesus did Miracles to show that He Himself was The Way, The Truth and the Life. His work as a prophet was the very testimony that He is the Messiah for no prophet said as He did that the works bare witness to Him. All who come to HIM will in no wise be cast out! You see Adam and Eve sinned and were “Cast out” but all who come to Him will not be “Cast out” . He is the very Tree of Life that a man eats and lives forever.

He was the voice of the one crying in the wilderness, as said the Prophet Isaiah 40:3, The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Isaiah prophesied of one coming in the power of Elijah, Malachi 3:1 a messenger, then in Matt.17:10 and Mark 9:11, the apostles ask Jesus, And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?
12And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought. 12And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought. 13But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him. John the Baptist was Elijah in power, he was the forrunner of the Christ. John said, I must decrease, he must increase. John was a messenger to prepare a new covenant, a new way of being saved, by grace thru faith, Eph 2:8&9, In the last days during the tribulation Elijah himself may show up on earth, Malachi 4:5-6 because that last chapter verse 1 talks about the day burning as a oven. Hopefully the rapture will come soon and take us all home to be with Jesus. Amen

When John first started his ministry people started to think that John was the Messiah. So when Jesus came, he said all that to say that John was a minister and not the prophet.

I don't see why you think that he is saying Jesus is not that prophet. He is merely saying that he John is not the Christ. Nothing about Jesus here at all.

He was the one who was to fulfill the prophecy "A voice crying in the wilderness, make straight the pathway for the Lord."

John told us who he was, if you are reading scripture. He was sent to point out the Christ.

The questions they were asking him were to see if he was the one fulfilling a different prophecy which talks about Elijah (someone similar to Elijah, preaching truth) returning in the future.
