Like if they call the child a whore and a slut constantly. I really dont like seeing her going through this. They constantly put her down calling her names and saying she is good for nothing and wont make it to college. But her sister is a perfect angel. I wanna get her out of this.

My parents are the same way, but now that I'm abit older I realize that they didn't really mean it. For them it was a mental thing. I'm sad that other kids are going through the same thing. If what the parents are saying is emotionally abusing the child it could be possible for CPS to take the child away. There would have to be some type of proof though. Having the child talk to a psychiatrist or school counselor would help them deal with it and they could take whatever action they feel would be in the childs best interest.

Here is CPS guidelines for emotional abuse.

Emotional Abuse
Emotional abuse is evidenced by severe anxiety, depression, withdrawal, or improper aggressive behavior as diagnosed by a medical doctor or psychologist and caused by the acts or omissions of the parent or caretaker (ARS §8-201).

Emotional maltreatment includes blaming, belittling or rejecting a child, constantly treating siblings unequally, and persistent lack of concern by the caretaker for the child's welfare. Emotional maltreatment is rarely manifest in physical signs, particularly in the normal school setting; speech disorders, lags in physical development, and failure to thrive syndrome are physical indicators of emotional maltreatment. More often it is observed through behavioral indicators, and even these indicators may not be immediately apparent.

While emotional maltreatment does occur alone, it often accompanies physical abuse and sometimes sexual abuse.

If you are an adult yourself, you can call Child Services and see what their mandates are about verbal and emotional abuse. If you are not an adult, is there one that you can trust to speak with about the situation and then go on from there? A guidance advisor perhaps? What they are doing isn't right and it should be stopped if it can.

Report it to the police or CPS. That is verbal abuse.
