no. if there was a draft then there would be more resistance to the endless wars they have planned. as it is everyone can sit home and watch american idol and wave their flag and not have to worry about getting shot themselves.

Probably not....I don't think for one second that a politician would want their son or daughter going in the the military. They would also receive a heap of trouble if the made provisions to exclude them for safety reasons. Remember, we are now at a point where the majority of our elected officials have never served in the military.
Having spent 20 years in the Army starting back when there was a draft. Those years were the best years I served. Having shared time with the poor and some poor little rich kids that thought they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
Again, I don't see a draft coming up in the future. It would be a political killer. During the Vietnam Conflict (I didn't call it a war, because it was never declared a war by Congress). The draft in combination of the conflict escalated the anti-war movement to a greater extent then it does now with a all volunteer military. If the men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan were drafted, you better believe that you would have seen a protest similar to the 1960's.

If Bush invades Iran, they will have to have one because most of the Army is stuck in Iraq.
But I don't think Congress will pass a military draft legislation unless the United States is directly attacked by a foreign power. And I am not talking about Al Qaeda, but a nation like China, Russia or Britain.

It's difficult to say, depending on whether or not you are democrat or republican. contrary to popular belief, democrats are the only political aprty in the past 15 years that have even mentioned the "good idea" of a draft. however, the short answer is no, I don't think that there will be a draft anytime in the near future. However, here is the one problem...the US is currently extended to its reaching limits as far as war goes. America built its military with the design that it is capable of fighting two wars at once. (just as a precaution). however, we are already doing that with iraq and afghanistan. IF we were to go to war with let's say Iran and Russia, the answer is that the US would have no alternative but to draft because because we could not win 4 wars without a draft....we don't have the manpower for it....but you're safe from a draft currently.....

It depends if most countries start Rejecting the Private Mercenary Scum armies like Blackwater and KBR. If they do we are going to need a draft.

don't know. Do you think they were sitting around on Dec 6,1941 wondering.....gee I wonder if we will have a draft anytime soon. (my dad was already serving in the RAF, he transferred back to the AAC after the US returned Germany and Japans generous invitation of declaring war.

No one can know for sure, but I am sure the government would love that. If they can find a reason to install it, they will.
