As we know, David, King of Israel had his eye on a chick he saw across the street taking a bath. Her name was Bathsheba, and her husband, Uriah was in David's(thus God's) army. David wanted this chick so he sent Uriah to the front of whatever war they were fighting at the time, hoping he would be killed in battle. He was. So now, David has free rein to go after Bathsheba. Funny that she didn't object, since her husband just got killed, but anyway, she and David get pregnant. To prove His power, and to show that David and Bathsheba sinned, God decided to kill their child as punishment.
Now, I have heard of people who stalk others and kill their pets, or family members because of some mental instability, usually because they are spurned or ignored by their quarry. What I want to know is this. this God of love, who kills children to punish their parents, is He okay? Or does he need psychiatric counselling followed by a lengthy stay in a penal environment?

He did a slew of things wrong... and he repented and was forgiven. He saw her, desired her and went in to her impregnating her. In an effort to cover up this sin he sent for the husband to come home, so that he would lay with his wife and so that it might look like he fathered the child. The husband, a good soldier however wanted to go back to the front because he thought it wrong to be the only one on leave. David therefore ordered him to be put in the most dangerous spot where there was a guarantee that he was going to get killed... David thereby murdered the husband. After that he went and married Bathsheba. Adultery of the heart? He got her pregnant, so it went way beyond that...

You need to remember that many times in life innocent people have to suffer for the consequences for the other people's sin That child was in the presence of Lord as soon as he died. God gives us our life, and He takes it away. However, the children always belong to God.
David was an awful husband,an awful father, but this story is about how God can use rotten people like David for the kingdom good. When David finally repented and asked forgiveness when he realised how far he has been from the will of God, god forgave him. He is the great example how David love the Lord. And when he loved the Lord with His full heart, God forgave him all his shortcomings and never called him as a sinner anymore. Ever better, David was called a man after God's own heart.

The story has just a little twist in it: Bathsheba was actually pregnant by David before Uriah was sent to the front to die. Unfortunately, the Bible seldom reports women's emotional reality in depth (Ruth, and the Shulamite of the Song of Solomon being rare exceptions). However, the Bible does say that Bathsheba "submitted herself" to David, who was King, and whose words held the power of life and death. That doesn't make it sound like she really wanted to be a part of it; it sounds more like she didn't see any other real choice. God took the baby home with Himself. David came to realize he would in time join their son at God's home. Uriah was already there. David cheated Uriah out of his wife, his home, and every chance of ever having children. I think God took the first child of David and Bathsheba for Uriah to raise in heaven, since Uriah was cheated out of ever having his own child on earth. In order to think way, one has to believe in a continuing between earth and heaven, and a reckoning, and a finalization of justice.

David and Bathsheba were really famous sinners!
But because God is a God of Grace, David repented and was forgiven of his sins - as we all can be.
A great story with a great message of grace and forgiveness for the worst sinners.

Perhaps God was doing the baby a favor. He was the result of adultery, and was going to grow up in a messed-up family in a ugly world. As it was, he was taken to heaven when he was still too young and innocent to know a thing. It didn't hurt the baby, it only hurt his parents.

The Bible treats wives and children basically as property of the man and taking them away punishes the man just like keying his Porshe might. He killed Job's kids too.
Me, I just fixate on how hot Bathesheba must have looked to catch David's eye and inspire such treachery. I'm thinking Avril Lavine or Jennifer Anniston hot.

Kind of makes you wonder how it is that the killing of a living breathing human being is more just and reasonable than abortion, doesn't it?
Seems to me that the baby in question knew more about what was going on than a 3 week old mass of cells.
The baby had consciousness, the foetus does not.

On Judgment Day tell this to God and say to Him that He is wrong and you are right. You will be supremely disappointed. Repent and believe in Jesus. God bless.

Innocents often do suffer from the sin of others. It isn't God's fault, and the baby - the baby's in heaven. He didn't miss out on much.

You have it backwards, because children are gifts from God.
God took His gift of a child back from David because David sinned against Him deliberately because David knew the Lord. David knew God judges sin. This is that same David that slew Goliath because Goliath blasphemed God. That same David that God annointed to be King over Israel. That same David passed his curse of being a womanizer to his son Solomon to where even Solomon got involved with idols because of his foreign wives.
You do realize that David quit crying over the loss of his son and decided to repent so he could see his son in heaven. David's son was in a better place than David. There is no better place than to be with the Lord.
Whether you like it or not, my friend, your sins today affect your children tomorrow. God warns us that one moment of pleasure has future consequences. If you drink alcohol, you pass that alcoholism down to your children. They may not have a liver that can take alcohol and alcohol may kill them.
Porno is passed down from father to son. If you are addicted and your son sees you messing with porno he will become addicted also. We always want to blame God for the repercussions of our sins, but the truth is the wages of sin is death. God doesn't think that he is killing children because God isn't killing them. God is just taking babies back that He gave as a gift to parents that didn't deserve the gift. A curse without a cause, does not come. Sin causes the curses in our lives. Whether they be our sins or ancestral sins, they become a curse to us. David paid dearly for his sins and we pay dearly for our sins. Sins will have punishment. We reap what we sow. It's God's law and He doesn't break it for anyone, but then God gave us Jesus who took away the sins of the world, if we only believe in Him. A Savior who saves us from our sins. We don't deserve Jesus, we deserve punishment like David got, but God loves us so much that He sent Jesus. "The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." Now, to be forgiven of our sins we accept God's Son Jesus as our Savior and Jesus washes our sins away. His blood on the Cross of Calvary was sufficient for the Father God. We can now be reconnected to God and our sins are forgiven. They've been washed away in the blood of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. King David knew the Son of God was coming and King David would have loved to have seen Jesus. David knew that he couldn't keep the 10 commandments and that he had sinned against God. King David knew his sins were many and that God was merciful to him. Having God forgive our sins just for believing in His Son is a wonderful thing, because we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. God doesn't need anything. It is mankind that desperately needs a Savior.
