I'm personally very much offended by that. Likewise, I was born, raised and still live in America but whenever I hear my fellow Americans say, "God Bless America" isn't that like inadvertently saying, "Damn EVERYONE ELSE to Bloody Hell!"?

The self-righteousness that some people develop in the name of their patriotism or religion is very annoying.

Many are called but few are chosen

when you bless someone by paying attention to them or buying a gift or anything that would make them happy are you damning everyone else?, no, you are choosing to be kind to that one person for your own specific reasons and certainly you have a right to do that

It's not inadvertent and it's extraordinarily sad that this happens today. I feel it too and am offended by it as well.

As to the "God's Chosen People" proclamation...I happen to believe we are ALL God's Chosen People. If that's what makes them happy, let them dream on. I know who I am and where I'm going. See ya there!

that you are not? I think that might be a phrase used by self righteous people, tho I hope some dont' mean it that way. we have the history that shows he does chose people, but usually for a particular purpose (the isrealites) who were to set an example for everyone else others could join if they wanted to, and the restrictions on marriages and associations wasn't because God felt they were superior but rather it was to protect the judean line to Jesus, he had to be born in the right line to inheirate the kingship promised david. and to protect them from the false religions of these nations. you see what happened when solomon accumlated foreign wives to himself they enticed his heart to worship false gods.

next he chose certain ones in jesus days for a purpose to preach to others about God's kingdom, first to the jew because of the promise to abraham, but when they rejected it except for a few individuals they went to the so called gentiles. the purpose of the choseness of israelites was to be a kingdom of priests, they would eventually would have been with christ in heaven administering their preisthood to help mankind on a paradise earth, it wasn't to elevate them for their personal glory they were still to seek God's glory not their own.

of course they lost out as a nation. But I think people who use that phrase may be self righteous or just not aware of what they are actually implying to others who don't understand.

RRRR

To say "God bless America" is a very short prayer to God for blessings upon this nation. You could pray the same for any one or any country

The next thing you should ask them is chosen to do what. I bet they cant tell you. They should tell you they are chosen to teach the gospel to the rest of the son and daughters of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob other than just Israel. But that's to deep for people they would to read the bible to find that out.

Actually, saying "God Bless America", is inadvertedly saying "We haven't quite managed to split church and state".

As for God's Chosen People, well, it would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Religion is made man so personally pay no attention to any of it. My conversations with my higher power tells me to love and forgive everyone equally - period. Even delusion fools.
