how soon can you potty train a chihuahua puppy? cuz thier pretty small and kinda dumb as puppies...?

Chi's actually catch on pretty quick but they have small bladders! i have found that getting puppy pads from the pet store helps immensly. they are scented so that the puppy knows that it is ok to potty on it. they are inexpensive and the help a lot with house breaking and controlling clean up after accidents!!! Also, remember that Chi's respond much better to positive reinforcement(praise) rather than negative(spanking and yelling). This will also help in training and strengthen the bond between you and your pup!

Just like you potty train any other dog! Consistent crate training, stick to it attitude, potty pads, litter pan is all you need! Yes they are small but how does that make them stupid or dumb? They are very intelligent dogs in my opinion, and shouldn't be treated as anything other than a dog.

you can start training them as soon as you want just dont wait till they are adults cause then they get stubborn. My chihuahua is very smart. I dont think puppies are dumb, just silly. Good luck with your new pup!

They're not dumb. Start training right away. Use crate training, consistency, and praise. Don't let him out of your sight when he is loose. Be patient above all. Here is more detailed info:

Chihuahuas are not dumb! Every chi is different. Whenever you think the chihuahua is able to play and understand its surroundings.

You can start to train your puppy whenever you want. Just don't do it once its not a puppy anymore, it is much harder.
