you know, like... if an atheist thought aloud in his head: "I hope so and so deconverts" with hands folded, every night before they went to sleep.

It doesn't matter if an atheist believes in God or not. They can still pray, just perhaps believe that God doesn't hear them... but it wouldn't matter if God really really was real, he'd still hear the atheist.

i hate the term religious people. cuz today people think that religious people r like nuns, who don't do anything wrong, and is a goody tu shoe! im a christian, and that definitly isn't the case, why does this society think religion is a bad thing like its just going to church every Sunday, well its not, its about having a relationship with God. A lot of people dont understand the joy you get, the lifting of the three hundred pound weight on your shoulder, your new positive attitude everyone wants to be around, and i feel sorry for the people who dont experience it. i respect atheism and all religions. God gave us a choice of religion, he gave us the choice to have a relationship with him or not. if an atheist prayed id be amazed because then i know they believe there is a greater being. i'd praise them!

Your question is funny since of course a atheist would have no "Deity" to pray to in the hopes they would inspire one to change a belief. Because if you are hoping a "higher" power of some sort would be involved in that prayer - I would be interested to ask you whom?
To answer you question though,, no I would not be annoyed. Amused at best,,, but for the most part kinda sad for them.

Who would an atheist be praying to?

BTW, when I was a young man there was a hot-line called "Dial-A-Prayer" for people who wanted someone to pray with them about their problems.

It was so successful, somebody thought it would be useful to set up a similar hot-line for atheists.

You called the number and nobody answered!

I'm athiest and I still think that it's rude if an athiest prayed for you to deconvert to athiesm. It's none of my business! :) Why should they try to change the way you think?

I think it's true for anyone-- anyone would be annoyed if someone of another religion tried to convert them.

I hope I was helpful.
Good luck!

I would be confused because who would they be praying to? They dont believe that there is anyone to pray to. Also, what exactly would they want me to convert to? It is not a religion. They believe in nothing.

I would LOVE for an atheist to pray for me. That would prove that they know there is a power greater than them.

I would be more curious than annoyed. To whom or what would an atheist pray?

They could say that in regard to me every night the rest of their life. God would ignore them.
