it depends on the subject .. u could also say that non-religeous people are not open minded to spiritual things or any possibilities that there may have been a creator ..

Well if you believe "religious people are bound to ignorant religious beliefs" then you would have to also acknowledge that non-religious people are closeminded to any religion. They will not even allow exploration into religions to discover if they are true or not. You could say that I am religious, I believe in Jesus as the Christ, and I pray to him. However, I am always open and looking for ways to make myself a better person. I know that rudness and other simularily mean actions are not going to make me a better person. Doing drugs, speaking vulgarities, etc... they all lead to bad things and they will always have a negative effect on other people. I am only closed off to things that will make me a worse person.

I've met open minded and close minded Christians, and unbelievers alike. I have a tendency to want to know the person, not label them to a group.
Now, as to open-mindedness, that is also relative. I believe that I am an open-minded person, but I also believe that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. That is what the Bible says, and I've not seen the Bible be wrong yet, and that comes after testing it.
If I were to say 2+2=4, would I be close-minded, or is that considered a mathematical truth? If another person did not want it to add up to four and absolutely refused to believe it would, would that person be open-minded or close-minded.
I believe that open-mindedness allows me to believe as I ought, so long as I respect others for what they believe also. Telling them what I believe is not forcing them to follow in my footsteps, but not telling them would be like not telling somebody who is about to walk off a cliff (and doesn't see it) that they are about to walk off a cliff. The person may turn and walk a different direction, or choose to keep walking and fall off the cliff. If I never said anything to begin with, seeing the danger the person was in, then that would be wrong. If I said something and the person chose to ignore me, then I've done what I could to help, but everybody faces the consequences of their own actions.
If I did NOT allow another their beliefs, that would be close-minded. If a person did not allow me my beliefs, that would be close-minded. But my sharing my beliefs without forcing others to accept them, that does not make me close-minded. I've tried other beliefs; mine work for me.

a million is via the fact we've no theory what we are messing with. The prescription drugs' first loyalty will consistently be to their share holders. 3. How plenty plastic do you do away with on a each year foundation? 4. can provide 'social' types with a significant existence. 5 and 6 i might call as smug lack of awareness. 7. God made weed, man made beer. i be attentive to whom I believe and that i'm no longer non secular btw, basically a believer in that what technology won't be able to teach because of the fact that they might't disprove it the two :-)

On the whole, I suppose I'd have to say yes. Of course, there are plenty of exceptions on both sides of that fence.
If by a "very religious person" you mean somebody who has extremely strong convictions on the subject of religion, discusses it with people on a daily basis, and has the firm conviction that people who don't agree are dangerously deluded...well there are some atheists who'd fit that description.
I think anybody who takes their religious position seriously, even if they consider themselves open-minded, do believe deep down inside that they're at least working more sensibly and direct than some of the other groups. I know I sure do. That CAN be strong enough to manifest as a narrow, ethnocentric view. But not always.

No, not necessarily. You can be religious and open-minded at the same time by respecting other people's beliefs and being tolerant of others.

Haha. I know a lot of people in both categories who are very open-minded, and I know even more who are close-minded. I'll ask an atheist friend if they've ever considered spirituality theoretically and they're like God is imaginary I'm not even going to think about it. Doesn't sound open-minded to me. My question to them: how do they expect to have an informed debate with anyone who has strong religious convictions?

From the looks of your question it seems like you are the one who is not open minded. so i would have to say that religious people are the open-minded ones

Well...it depends, I guess. On the person. Some religious people are pretty open minded, and some non religious people can be very closed minded.

Actually, not so much. I've seen a lot of atheists that hate religion in all shapes and forms. It's because some of us have been treated badly by religions in the past.
I myself am an atheist, and I don't really care about what people believe as long as it's not affecting me or causing hatred.

I would think you have to be open- minded to the truth to hear God speak to you.Perhaps it's logical that people who want to ridicule others for their beliefs are the ones who are close-minded and ignorant, to use your own words.
