How much would it cost to give a 10 -15 lb dog flea shots from the vet? Don't say there is no such thing because my nana had it done to her dog and it works. I hear it gets rid of the fleas in less than one hour. So, how much would it cost. I am was going to go right now, but the nearest animal hospital is about to close. How much do you think it would cost for some flea shots?

There is certainly a flea-shot for cats (Program) but I must say that I've never encountered one for dogs and haven't found anything reliable in an internet search just now. All I can think of is that maybe some vets are using Program 'off-label' (i.e. other than for its registered use) in dogs or perhaps that some are using injectible ivermectin which again, would be off-label.

The best flea treatment/prevention combination in dogs is to use Capstar as KimbeeJ said- this will kill the fleas on the dog very quickly- and then use a monthly tablet or spot-on treatment- e.g Sentinel or Frontline Plus. A 6 month pack of either would be about $60-$70 for a dog that size.

NO SUCH THING - I don't care what you or your nana think you saw.

It is a pill called CAPSTAR, gets rid of fleas fast.
It's cheap, just costs a few bucks at your vet's, but then you need to be sure to put a topical liquid like Frontline or Advantage on the back of your dog's neck every SINGLE MONTH.

That will keep fleas off him.
Now, stop arguing with people who have been working with dogs for years and ask your vet about Capstar and topical lotions monthly.

I have seen it done too before. A friend of mine's lab got it done recently. Usually it will cost you 30-50 dollars or more. Not over 200 i am sure.Good luck!

There are NO flea shots. Capstar is an oral pill, as mentioned above, and is around $3.00 at our hospital.
