I would get a second opinion. I realize going to a different vet, is not very cost effective, but----depending on where you live there are certain days when vets may have an 'open clinic', or there are even 'mobile vet' organizations too. Also, try calling a Boxer Rescue group and decribing your boxer's 'history' on this problem. They usually have a vet they use and can ask for you. MAKE SURE you tell them this is a Pet Store puppy. Also, reputable breeders are always happy to answer questions and might be able to guide you in the right direction.
Unfortunately, this all seems to have begun to happen about when puppies purchased at 'Pet stores' usually start to 'go downhill'....
Sorry, that doesn't help much does it? Just do the best you can, try and stay positive, (this is a strong breed usually and that is one thing he does have going for him.....) And please keep us posted.
Woof.
Also, usually when a dog has 'Kennel Cough', the WORST place to keep him is at the vets. He already is compromised, health wise, and is highly susceptable to any other infections, health issues, etc. Unfortunately, most vets do not even put dogs with this problem in isolation---they simply put them with all the other dogs. (Please NOTE, I did NOT say ALL vets.) Thanks.

I'd be concerned as to whether or not he actually has kennel cough. With that being said only a Vet is qualified to give out medical advice on your puppy, and he should really be examined if you are worried that he is not getting better or that he is getting worse. I know that it can be can be expensive to own a dog esp. when they get sick, but if you really feel that he isn't getting better you should take him back to the vet.
If you are unsure as to what to do call your vet. Your vet will talk to you on the phone without charging you. Let him or her make the determination as to whether your puppy should be brought back in. Though he/she may error on the side of caution and ask that you bring the puppy back in.
Whatever it is that is wrong with your puppy be it kennel cough or something else I hope that he is feeling better soon.

You have to "let it run it's course",... try just Benylin cough syrup.
As with humans a cough is usuallyworse in the evenings/nights.
It does sound worse than it is.
Had an old boxer who got kennal cough at the vet's, when she went in for a bad tooth.
The poor girl suffered the symptoms a long time,.. she was over 10 yrs. old too.
Your pup is young, so it'll be quicker to get over it. Just him comfortable, it'll go away,...it's not life-threatening.

my dog had the same problem so i call the breeder she said three things one buy vitamin c and crush and mix into the dogs food 2,3 times a day . second thing u could do is the yogurt treatment to kill off any germs in his or her system, two tea spoons mixed into the food for twice a day for two weeks then one teaspoon a day for one week if u start this u must run it though for the 21 day course so they dont come immune to it , 3third thing is a child cough syrup for suppressant give twice aday for ten days around o.5 ml or 1ml .

Well, if you cannot afford to go to the vet again then all you have to do is go your local pet store and ask the cashier and show them. It would be best for the dog
