I think that is a generalization.

People generalize... that's a simple fact of life. When someone points out how some Pagans act, generalizing that all Pagans are hateful towards Christians (in general)... It helps to point out that yes, some Pagans are like that. And some truly are like that. And yes, they do hurt the image of all Pagans by doing that, as it leads othera to believe that is the general attitude of all Pagans. And then point out that not all Pagans act like that... just because we all share the same label doesn't mean we are all sharing the same attitude (or brain for that matter). We are, after all, individuals and should be treated like individuals. But when a person generalizes others and then demands that people shouldn't generalize them, that is when I get annoyed. I see it happen often... a person generalizes a group, but demands that they shouldn't be lumped in with how another perceives their own group. If you don't want to be generalized, then don't generalize others.

But in here, that's practically impossible to do without adding a small note that we do realize that not all of a group act like that... but we base our generalizations on how we see the majority of that group act and can't help but place all people of that group into that generalization. The "majority" is how we see and count the people. A Christian may only come in contact with 20 Pagans... and out of that 20, 15 of them are young and still angry with how they have been treated by Christians. The generalization is that ALL Christians treat Pagans that way... and ALL Pagans are angry teenagers... which isn't the case at all. (I'm Pagan... I'm 36 and though I get angry, I'm not an Angry Pagan)

Generalization is always partly true in some way, but too many people use generalizing as an excuse for intellectual laziness.

They're too lazy to learn the facts, or get to know people on an individual basis, so they generalize and stereotype. A person who makes a generalization and doesn't acknowledge as such just makes themselves look ignorant. And it wastes everyone's time cuz others have to respond like you said. To just say a generalization is true without calling it a generalization, askers set themselves up for these responses. This is true of all groups on here.

I have had more than 100 questions responded to in this manner I am sure.

You are correct. If they feel reality pushing in on them, they will quickly say something like, "Well, not everyone believes that "Ark" story. It was meant to be a parable."

That's what gets me. Everything in the Bible was intended to be factual, unless otherwise suggested directly in the text by the teller. I love how they pick and chose what they want to call fact and fiction. God certainly did not specify these things.

They can't lose.

Neither can an 8-year old if you ask him/her about Santa. They have every angle covered.

Sad really.

You said, "Instead of agreeing." So does that mean anyone that disagrees is not christian?
