Everytime I have a cold, my mom always tells me to have some hot tea with lemon. Does drinking some actually help?

Yes, it does help some. The hot water from the tea helps to break up mucous and congestion while the lemon has lots of vitamin C to help build back your immunity.

It has a soothing effect on the throat. It sometimes makes you feel better. It doesn't make you get over the cold any quicker or anything though.

Oh you know if you have a sore throat you can use baking soda with a little bit of lime juice and water and rinse a couple of times and your throat will feel much better!!!!! =)
