see you doing exactly the same things as we do, going to the same shops, buying things you dont really need, spending your holidays abroad, going out at nights, going to new and fashionable restaurants....so what makes you think you are the most spiritual of us all??? just because you pray from time to time? just because you say you believe in a god??? wow if that is all that takes to be highly spiritual...

Gee, I don't know where that came from...but I, as a christian don't believe I'm better than anyone else at all. If you don't believe in God, then that is up to you. It's called having "free will". We are all free to make decisions whether we believe in God or not. I'm sorry to hear you're having this kind of experience with someone who says they are christian. But christians are supposed to be humble. There are different types of spirituality. Believing in God and praying is just one form. Try not to group everyone in the same category because of an experience you had with one or two people.

Spiritual things are who we are from the heart. It controls our hearts, our thoughts and therefore our lives. A Christian does not go around with the attitude of "look at me -- I am better than you". A Christian loves at all times.
Spirituality is not what we do to eat and drink and sleep. Those things are mortal things. Many that claim to be Christian only claim that because they have been carried away by a better felt than told idea some have. That idea is from Satan and they are not really Christians. Many of these so-called Christians are miserable in their lives.

To some extent, I agree. Some Christians are too materialistic.

The main difference between a spiritual person and a materialistic person is intent. A spiritual person can appreciate material things, but does not really NEED these things, nor does he miss them if he does not have them. A spiritual person is content no matter what he has.

Your condescending tone aside, no that isn't all it takes to be spiritual. I consider myself spiritual because I sometimes detect the hand of God in things going on around me. And because I take the time to consider spiritual things, and because I study the Bible not just for it's practical teachings about this life but also for it's spiritual teachings. I am spiritual because I choose to be. I am at least open to the idea that God is real and sometimes takes a hand in what goes on down here. You are not, you choose to close your mind to the possibilities and mock those who do not think like you do. Thus, you are not spiritual.

I think that you are judging everyone too harshly. Your point seems to be that we are all human, but it comes across that you are just as judgemental as the people you are trying to condemn. Not all christians think they are more spiritual, or are better than anyone else. True christians are taught to be non-judgemental, forgiving, kind, and giving. I'm not sure what your experiences have been, but they don't sound too positive. Lighten up and respect others regardless of their religion. There's no reason to be so worked up, and you will probably enjoy people more if you aren't so focused on their spiritual or religious beliefs.

I can not afford to spend my holidays abroad. Am I to assume that being the atheist that you are it is accessibility financially rewarding?

Get off your high horse, we all live on the same planet. God made all men living spirits. What you do with yours and what I do with mine will be the difference. It is the end result that matters at the end of time when time will be no more.

Don't put all Christians in the same bucket. There are fanatics and then there are real Christians. Real Christians don't think they are better. They are not judgemental. We make mistakes like everyone else. I'm not "highly spiritual", but I do have faith. God is real, man. He's there and He loves us. He knows we screw up. We make mistakes. We learn from them and we try not to make the same mistakes again. You believe and try to live a good life. Real simple.

I believe that true Christians do not live as you suggest. Those who love God, long to do His will, are to give themselves to God as living sacrifices, according to Romans 12:1-2. We are to place a higher priority on His will than on our lives, out of love and respect for what He has done for us.

Too many people have been told that, since God forgave their sins, they could go out and sin all they wanted to because God has paid the price. But, it cost Jesus His life, His dignity, He was tortured, He was rejected, His own followers, and family did not understand Him -- He was totally alone in a hostile world, being tortured and killed. To be a Christian is to love the God who did this for me; to repay Him in the fashion you suggest, is to slap a dying, hurting Man when He's down -- it's dirty pool. He didn't die so that we could do whatever we wanted to do and laugh in the face of His agony, He died that we might have life, and the ability to love Him and others as we ought.

You are right; many of us get it wrong, and I'm sorry. We have God in us, and should behave differently.

I do not in any way mean to be criticizing you for your lifestyle -- those who do not believe the Bible are not to blame for living apart from its words, but those who follow God, should also follow His Word.

we are spiritual in that we don't live to please ourselves. what we do, as humans, is never as important as our motives. you work hard to buy stuff and acquire more and more...i work hard because i work for the Lord and want to be a great example to others. the stuff i buy and own is purchased with an eye to glorify God by showing hospitality to others in my home and given away if the need is there.

i pray ALL the time, not just on occasion, because i have a personal relationship with God and He's great to talk to!

so you miss the boat, the docks, the pier and the coastline, with your understanding of what it means to be *spiritual*...your eyes can only see what's right in front of you, while mine can see heaven...

I wouldn't say i am more spiritual than you, but technically that is the case because SPIRITUALITY requires a SPIRITUAL belief, which atheists refuse to acquire (hence the name atheist). so why don't you atheists apply the "live and let live crap" to us Christians?
