I was home schooled for 10 out of my 12 school years in an isolated community where there were only 15 other people, the youngest being my mother. My father's logic was that I was good at science and people who good at science didn't need association with people to survive emotionally, or at least that's what he shouted at people who told him off for completely isolating me.
My mother bragged to everyone about how I was free of non-Christian influence and all the other JW parents at the meeting sighed and said they wished they could home school their kids legally for free so they could keep their kids as innocent and untainted as me (because I was so far away from any school, I recieved free government supplied lesson books).
Have virtually no association with anyone within 20 years of your age for the majority of your childhood does some wierd things.

Trust me....if you were homeschooled....you most likely could leave the public schooled in the dust.
Know you A from a hole in the ground? You win.

Yes, you obviously are stuck in a dead end job and it doesn't look like your future is very bright. Homeschooling students, however, have a very good chance of being your next boss: http://www.hslda.org/docs/nche/000000/00000017.asp

You could always go to college at Bob Jones.

Homeschooled kids actually do better on comprehensive skills tests than kids who went to public school. You can be anything you want to be.

Was bigotry and condemnation in the curriculum?
Those subjects seem to be the motivation for home schooling, in my opinion.
