It's like i'm talking to a group of 4 year olds.

Why would i, under ANY circumstance, care to dedicate THOUSANDS of dollars, YEARS OF MY LIFE to LEARN about SOMETHING i DO NOT need to KNOW?! (keeping on topic) Like SCIENCE?!

IF for ANY reason i happen to learn a thing or two about the subject relative to my interests i WILL remember it. But i keep getting answers like "You must be a moron if you don't know about science".

Seriously, talk to me about art techniques, styles AND history and i'll bury you. Sure it may not contribute to the rest of the world, but neither do 90%+ of the scientists out there. I just know different things.

Here's the last question

BTW i have a 133 IQ, i got the math award in grade 10. My mind thinks in terms of patterns and systematic approaches to problems, which makes my art outta this world.

Sweetheart, you're ranting. Settle down and have a cup of tea. Okay, so you don't want to learn science and you're happy with evolution. Great. Fine. As long as you give others the right to have their views, I see no problem with it.
Now, would you like cookies or a slice of cake with your tea, and do you take milk?

My IQ is alot higher than yours and I don't particularly care for Science either. I do, however, have a basic scientific data base to understand most concepts.I'm not an atheist nor am I a Christian. I assume that people probably get irked with you when you hide behind the Bible and try to use it as empirical proof in an argument. Probably about evolution. I only assume this because you DID post it in the Religion section.
I could be wrong. If your question is just a basic knowledge question, then you should know the basics of Science and if it's not your cup of meat concentrate on subjects that you have an affinity for.

BTW, God has blessed me with an IQ over 140 and I am an artist. Now with that bit of trivia aside, methinks it's best to move on.

Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (March 6, 1475 – February 18, 1564), commonly known as Michelangelo, was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet and engineer.

Michelangelo didn't seem to have a problem with science or art.

A mind that has no inclination to learn will not grow to it's full potential to glorify God.

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."(Eccles 12:13)

I am glad that you know your limitations.

I am also glad that you are so confident in what you will need to know in the future. I hope it works out for you, because if you suddenly find that your very life depends upon knowing a bit of science( for instance, how much radiation can the human body withstand after a local reactor has an "accident" ) it may be very difficult for you to be able to suddenly go back to school to learn the needed information!

I also find it amusing that you ridicule science as unneeded at the same time that you are posting upon a computer! I have a hunch that the inventors of the computer did *Not* say to themselves in school,"I am going to take science so that I can invent the computer!" They took to science to train their minds, and the computer, as with most great scientific inventions, is the result.

So go ahead and denigrate the science that you refuse to learn, while you depend upon your computer, your TV and radio, your refrigerator, your electric lights, and your car. But don't try to to convince us how smart you are. Intelligence without the motivation to learn new things is a wasted quality which is doomed to wither and atrophy from disuse.

I get what you're saying. You don't NEED to learn any more science than you think you're going to use or need. The same goes for everyone. You don't need to go out and get a doctorate in it.
What's irritating is when people who have no interest in science, or learning about science, then try to go attacking legitimate scientific theories, or attack people who DO know about science because science doesn't gel with their "beliefs". If someone wants to debate an issue, then you should at least try to learn something about the issue you're debating. Like *you're* an expert in art techniques. I'm not. So I would never think to attack your knoweldge of art. I would never insist a watercolor is an oil painting just because I have something against watercolors on a personal level, or insist that Monet painted the "Mona Lisa" because I WISH it to be true. (Not that I do, but you get my drift.)

I wonder who's holding a weapon on you to force you to study "something I do not need to know? Like Science?!". If you're still in grade school (which your rant suggests) then you really have no choice but to stick with the prescribed curriculum - which doubtless includes some field of science. If you're in college and going for a major in certain fields you've got two choices. Either switch your major so you don't have to study science or suck it up if you wish to get a degree in your chosen major.

As another pointed out, your IQ rating isn't going to impress anyone here. What does impress people is how you present yourself to we total strangers, if you're courteous, if you know how not to rant, and if you know the correct group to post your question in. Thus far I fail to see anyone suitably impressed. Just saying's all.

The cup of tea suggestion is a good one. I'd recommend chamomile tea, perhaps with a touch of hibiscus, to help with your jangled nerves. Honey would be an excellent sweetener with this.

Good luck to you.

I'll be brief: please refer to the listed website and note the portion that refers to artists, graphic designers etc.

If you feel that a system that looks for similarities and dissimilarities in patterns does not help your field you underestimate it's influence.

My IQ is two points higher than yours yet I do not bludgeon people with it. You might try that approach. Calling the many valuable contributors on this forum names does not further your cause.

Finally, if you feel so strongly that people are not getting your point how about ending the discussion. Seems a waste of your time to me.

Good luck !(take the humility hint to heart please)

Well it's good to learn science at school, as at school you don't yet know what you want to do in life, so learning about many different things allows you to go in many different directions academically once you reach 18 and go to college. But yeah after 18 just choose to learn whatever you want, it's just good to have an all round knowledge prior to that so that you get more choice.

Since this is what you obviously want:

There is no personal earthly reason for you to learn science. You're not interested in it, and you get along fine without it. However, if it's required for your college degree, you will probably learn enough to pass the course and move on. Watch out, however, because if you start to see the art in it, you might get hooked.

Since you don't need it to advance your career, don't worry about it. I believe that the arts is part of what makes us human. The other is being able to specialize. It's impossible for a single human to learn everything, so go ahead and try for excellence in your chosen field.
