I don't think people need Gods to worship as much as they would like answers to their questions. Without answers you kind of hand it over to a divine being. People want a purpose....a reason.....a cookie when they pee on the paper.

I don't think that humans do that ("create gods"). The concept of God is an ancient one, and could very well (in many circumstances) have come from actual human beings and their interaction with a Being (or beings) that was (were) greater than themselves.
A great book on the subject is CS Lewis' "Basic Christianity". He really covers the subject of "why are there beliefs in God" in depth. It is very logically presented, and easy to understand.

If you create a god, why would you worship it?
My God created the heavens and the earth.
And He has made Himself known to me through the Gospel and the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven.
God is not a theory with me, He is my very Life.

because we cannot see a GOD and thus we can make a GOD in any image we wish to suit our needs..then we try and get people to sway to our beliefs so we can control them..there are millions of people who feel rejected by the GODS they were brought up to worship sothey make up their own little cults,,,many people also feel that if they dont believe in some kind of GOD that they will parrish and end up in some eternal hell ...if we do worship and follow the words of what ever we believe in then we feel safe in the knoledge that we will live forever in some sort of utopia..eden..or heaven..so my problem is that all these religions a GODS..i cant believe there are only one religion in heaven...

I didn't create a god to worship... My God in Heaven created me and I give him all the Glory and Praise and want to worship his name.

I think the better question would be, why did God bother creating humans. We must be truly disappointing to Him.
