I am a Buddhist because after many years of study and contemplation, it is the best path for me to follow.
Atheists are not the only ones who believe in the big bang theory. If you wish to study it a little, you might decide that it has valid points. How can you dismiss a theory that you admit you know nothing about? I will take a scientific theory over "blind faith" with no evidence any day of the week.

Honestly, I think that that little molecules exploding for no reason and forming Earth is MUCH more rational that God appearing, forming little molecules that form Earth, and then a microscopic organism that evolved into a person that is trying to "slyly" convert everyone else. And I have to believe in some type of God? Tell me why. So far I've been an atheist, nothing wrong.
And no, I do not know how Earth, humans, or others that try to force their religion on others formed. Tell me how you think God was created? Remember, if your answer is anything contradicting the Bible, you go to Hell.

Being an atheist means that one doesn't believe in supernatural deities -- does not believe God is real. No more, no less. Different atheists each have their own opinions about abiogenesis and about evolution.
Personally, I think you are probably a Solipsist and imagine your own subjective (perceptual) experiences form the basis of reality. When asked to justify their faith, most believers insist they can "feel" God's presence and many assert that God has "revealed" Himself to them. This is precisely how people viewed reality before the scientific revolution began, four-hundred years ago. Solipsism was the philosophical perspective of the ancients. The Bible was written by solipsists, for solipsists, and makes perfect sense if viewed from the solipsistic perspective. I have observed that devout Christians in our modern times are invariably solipsists.
Modern people are called modern because they were born after the beginning of the scientific revolution, and understand why it was absolutely necessary to change civilization's philosophical perspective. Modern people understand that the physical realm is the only true objective reality, that objective (physical) reality includes all of the matter and energy in the universe and that reality is entirely external to their conscious mind. Modern people understand that their self-contained living brain is the source of their conscious awareness and that their brain also creates an illusion of reality -- called subjective (perceptual) experience -- within their mind, which is itself also a mental illusion.
Can you appreciate that you and I do not even share the same opinion about the true nature of reality? This is why atheists often say believers are delusional, crazy, or worse. You assume atheists HAVE to believe in some sort of god, because in your view of reality, gods make perfect sense. We atheists know that only the physical realm is actually real and can only imagine that you must be insane to believe your own perceptions and thoughts form the basis of reality.
Thank you for asking.
Peace and Love.....

I am an atheist because I have no beliefs in any gods.
I can be an atheist very easily by looking at the lack of evidence to support the existence of any god.
You mean that because you cannot explain why something happened, that some god must have done it?
You mean that because you cannot conceive that life can evolve from unicellular organisms to multicellular organisms, that some god must have created it?
I think your thinking is a bit off.
No, I do not have to believe anything that has no evidence to support it. I am not like you. Get over it.

Is that the law now? We HAVE to believe in some sort of god? Did I miss the meeting where we became a theocracy?
God-concepts are just security blankets to try and make us feel more important in universal terms than we actually are. Everything we learn takes us further away from the centre of the universe. So it's comfortble fictions versus humbling facts. I choose humbling facts. That's why I'm an atheist.

I haven't formed an opinion about evolution, so I wish not to dicuss that. However, I do not believe in any type of god. I don't feel obligated to do either.
The short version of that story is I grew up as a skeptic; I couldn't take into things at face value and had to research things to see if I was OK with it or not. That led me to Atheism.

There is no such thing as 'atheist beliefs'. Atheists simply do not believe in dieties.
If you had 'critical thinking' skills, you would not believe in dieties, either.
Gods were invented by man, in a desperate attempt to explain what was once unexplainable... things like the sun, moon, and stars... day and night... thunder and lightening... sickness and death... etc... and to answer questions that were once unanswerable... vital, profound, important questions like "Daddy... what holds the sky up?" The answer for ALL of these things was some form of "God did it."
For all of these questions, the delusion "God did it" (the ILLUSION of knowledge) has been replaced by REAL knowledge... and as a result, this 'god' has been reduced from an all-powerful supernatural being to a 'God of the Gaps'... an imaginary cockroach-like creature that scurries from crack-to-crevice, looking for the remaining patches of darkness and shadow in mankind's 'knowledge-base', so as to cower and hide from the glaring light of knowledge and understanding.
Evolution is a part of that REAL knowledge. Creationism is a part of the mythology that religion still clings to. Why? Because it is good BUSINESS.
The fact that people continue to cling to this pitiable, delusional 'god' idea is a pathetic disgrace, to say the least... and I am inclined to add 'tragic' to that, as well... a testament to the enduring power of gullibility, irrationality, willful ignorance, self-delusion, intellectual dishonesty, hypocrisy and drooling stupidity.
Yet today, we find stalwart defenders of these insane delusions fighting a desperate battle to stave off knowledge and understanding, trying to shield the dark cracks and crevices of ignorance from the light of reason... crying "No... no... that ain't so... God did it... God did it."
"When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called Religion." ~ Robert M. Pirsig
"Myth has been needed precisely because we were not in a position to understand the universe on its own terms, through the language of natural law and direct examination of its workings on a material, rational level. Once that process of understanding is completed—and we are well on our way to achieving that—the use of myth can be discarded. Its continuing retention is already proving to be counter-productive." - Earl Doherty

How can you post this question and freely admit that you have no clue?
Im agnostic but I still have a tendancy to believe in the "lil molecule" theory a little more.

Nope I am not required to believe in any type of deity..
I believe all deities are simply created in the minds of man to explain that which man does not yet understand.. Posseidon Zeus, Vulcan etc. are all deities that man once believe in... As the things these deities were created to explain were explained through science these deities became obsolete.. The deities of today are no different..
To attribute something to a deity simply because one does not understand it is a fantasy.... Why not accept there are things that have not been explained instead of attributing them to a deity as that concept has been proven wrong again and again...

what makes you believe in a god without actually ever hearing/seeing/KNOWING for a fact that, that god actually without ANY doubt actually exist..
i don't claim not to believe in god, but until i hear word from him personally like "hey, i AM real" i don't think i need to go out of my way to worship anything..
even then i might just think I've lost my mind, hearing things and all..
IF there is a god, why the hell would he care what i think/do/worship? he's a frigging god! where i a god, i wouldn't waste my time playing with humans when there is a whole universe to explore.
and if you tell me you can just "feel" god like my bible thumping brother i will respond with the fact that humans are capable of making themselves "feel" almost anything.
