The recently implemented Yahoo Answers report system....
.... is largely automated. Very simple in concept....
You report someone.... and their content is either deleted or not deleted based on a few factors:
#1. Whether it supposedly violates the terms of service (minor)
#2. Your influence level (major)

If it is deleted then your influence goes up.
If it isn't then your infleunce goes down.

This results in a positive feedback mechanism..... a cascade if you will. If your reported content gets deleted, you are more able to get anything else you report deleted, which gives you more and more deleting power. On the flipside... if it doesn't, then you continually lose influence until you have none at all.

Since different sides are going to be working against each other though... what this means is that the side with the most reporters is going to gain the most influence.... while the other side loses it.... until one side has ALL the influence...

In essence...

.... and I direct this to the atheists whom I would rather see win....

Unless you get VERY report-happy VERY quickly.... the christians are going to outreport us... gain complete control of the report system through ever-increasing influence until anything they report gets deleted....
..... And R&S is going to become completely christian-dominated.

A totalitarian theocracy....

The.
End.
Is.
Nigh.

Excuse me?

Don't the laws of probability come into this at all?
Though it might seem more likely... the tables could turn on the theists as well. I doubt they understand the system enough to formulate a group attack or even manipulate the report cascade system at all.

You are rather overstating the issues here, not to mention that you can always make more accounts with neutral report influence if you get banned.

Hmm intruiging set of circumstances, although I don't wholly understand how you say the system works. All I've gleaned is that I can potentially boot the fundies off of yahoo. Woo hoo!

- Sisterzeal, I don't think it's Christians that people have a problem outright with. I think it is funamentalists that report you for having a strong opinion on something they would call "Godless" or "wrong", again its an issue of having a faith forced upon you - even in a place where your opinion should be anonymous.

Yeah, yeah, I've heard it all. There's nothing new. Christians (and Jews) blamed for everything. I've never heard "well, he stole/lied/etc. and he's supposed to be a good Buddhist/Muslim/etc." But, you can bet your bottom dollar it is ALWAYS said about Christians and Jews if they commit an infraction. Remember there were efforts to destroy both. Expectations of Christians and Jews are ALWAYS much higher than of other religious groups. Why not check into the aim of the UN and the occultist Alice Bailey who espouses banning Christianity and Judaism to merge into one other 'religion.' They are being banned from worship at major universities while one provided a 'mosque' for Muslim worship....and with government money. So, who's biased? Where is separation of church and state? YOUR rights are being gradually yanked from you. It is obvious that we are going to be forced to abandon our beliefs in favor of a 'worldwide system' and it is most certainly not a religion. YOU/WE WILL NO LONGER HAVE A CHOICE to worship as you/we chose. And your/our lives will be at stake if we attempt to do so. I realize this could be deleted, but I will take my chance to see if my right to speak out is honored.

dear friend i,ll have you know that i posed a question directly to you last night and it was nipped in the bud as they say but no worries my friend you and i can agree to disagree and there is no harm done .
I am a christian but also an old school objectivist (ayn rand fan) my concept of religion got me excommunicated but didn"t deter my desire for honest discourse so don't judge us too quickly there are a lot of different types of judeo-christians.
and the last thing i want to do is stifle honest debate especially with my intellectual equals.at any rate i will continue to enjoy your interrogatives until such time as the zealots spoil it for us all.peace

I find it funny that you're waging war on a trivial website like Yahoo Answers.

Your fear is based on the fact that Atheists tend to post more objectionable and biased questions and responses than Christians do, and therefore, have a higher likelihood of being deleted. The mere fact that you are posting a rant like this would be indicative of the very same responses that most atheists post, mostly paranoid pompasity.

Yahoo is run by secular progressives, so your fears are unfounded.

BTW, I have NEVER reported anyone. But I have been reported by others, most often from the gay community for merely stating facts.

I wonder if I will get reported for this answer.
Not that I really care.

so what is the motive behind the madness wanting to get rid of Christians in the religion and spirituality section? I am certainly not trying to get rid of any atheists. have a blessed day.

wow..... this is kinda scary.....

i'd better keep my answers clean, eh?

Well, i'm never going to gain any 'influence' because i don't really believe in reporting people just because i don't agree with them..... unless they've really offended me, that is.

oh well.
