I have considered starting a rescue for quite some time now. I am now at the perfect point in my life to do so, as I will have six months off and then only be working part time after that.

If you have a bird that you feel would do better else where as you dno't have the time or money for their care, or it needs an experienced owner, I would be very happy to hear from you.

Regards,

Jenny

I should have added that I am in Alberta and I will be using half of the second storey of my home to donate a huge area to the birds. They will have company, be able to fly if appropriate for them, go out and play, and have a toone of sunshine, companionship and learning experiences. There will be time to learn tricks and make new friends, and room enough for them to have their own private space if they are stressed.

Sorry Jenny, but you can't do this here. Yahoo! is for questions and answers only - it's not the classifieds.

Check craiglist or petfinders. Look in your local paper. Check with area avian groups.

Please don't confuse rescue with adopting. A rescue takes birds from abusive/neglectful owners and rehabilitates them before adopting them into permanent new homes. Many have disabilities, health or behavioral issues.

This sounds for like an ad for something rather than a bird question. Not allowed here.

I'm going to try to point you in the right direction.

You sound like you will not have nearly enough room to be an actual rescue facility. I think that your home might be just right for fostering though. You should get involved with a rescue organization in your area. They really need people like you who can give care and shelter for needy birds.

You should put an ad in your local newspaper and post a few signs around town.
