It depends on your state. The douche bag president bill clinton got the assault weapons ban passed in 1994. It was only good for 10 years and ended in 2004. Yet, some states continue on with the old federal law that banned "assault weapons" and banned "high capacity" magazines. New York for instance, it is legal to have a standard size magazine for an AK (30 round capacity) if manufacturered and registered before 1994. In my state MS, 2nd amendment rights are favored and you can get whatever size magazine you want, and even a transferrable belt fed machine gun if you have enough money to buy one. Just check with your states position on the "assault weapons" ban-if they have kept it on the books, big chance your mag is illegal unless registered. Bunch of silly nannies, dont like guns but they like Justin Bieber! @Michael T, so you play down rifles, but then say a shot gun is just fine? anyhow, ive got my ak with a 30 round magazine for defense, and a pistol in my night stand. If they're in your room by the time you wake up, you're probably dead anyways. If you hear a clang in your house, i'd pick up the ak before the pistol anyday.
