I asked a question about inner peace and spirituality and the need or lack of need for religion. This is what one particular whiner said:
" If you had attained such a state of mind, you wouldn't be on here picking on those of us who DO believe"
If asking questions that this person couldn't properly answer is "picking on" anybody, then a lot of us are guilty as charged. Basically he just showed how one example (him), can make the whole group look bad. I'll be the first to admit that I have no use for religion and fail to see any use for it, that is why I asked the question. If you consider honest questions as picking on you, you have a serious problem and no religion will fix it.

Let me translate it for you with the assistance of my fundie-English dictionary.
"Why are you trying to make me think for myself when I have grown up being a sheep and believing whatever I am told by my church"?
Hope that clears it up for you.

First of all, I am so appalled at how racist people can be... wow. I totally agree with you. SOME (not all) white people (and people who do not consider themselves to be minorities) feel like affirmative action is a form of reverse discrimination. But if people would educate themselves before making themselves look like idiots, they would know that affirmative action is not based only on race but on class as well. And if you have a problem with the government helping someone who is obviously in need of help then you need to pray to God right now cause that's f*cked up. As far as welfare, there are white people on welfare as well. And I don't think that it is such a horrible thing for the government to help people who are in need of help because if you personally fell on hard times, I'm sure that you would be taking advantage of the same assistance. Take the time to walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you judge them.

Some people feel that their beliefs are the very fabric of their personality. So that any criticism impinges on their character not just on their beliefs. This wounds them deeply. Their reaction is very defensive and strident.
Not a lot you can do about it in any forum.

Perhaps that person isn't happy with the state of his spirituality (regardless of how he thinks he is right). His beliefs could not give him the peace he needs, and he took it out on you. Don't take his resentments personally.

Some people are self absorbed and think that anyone who disagrees with them is automatically out to get them.

Crying "foul" is usually the last recourse of someone whose position is indefensible.

Suck it up. You're big enough to know everyone is an individual, regardless of any group they may be part of at any given moment.
I would ask for nor expect any mercy from the likes of you, and I doubt you'd ask me for quarter.
Leave the whiners worry about the whiners.
