Every environment is home to unicellular organisms.

Bacteria are among the many unicellular organisms. Can you imagine a place without bacteria?

Protozoa live in the water, in the soil, inside organisms like termites, as parasites in many hosts, ...

Unicellular algae live in the water, but also in other damp places, as well as in symbiotic relationships called lichens.

Unicellular fungi can be found in many terrestrial environments. Yeast isn't just in a package from the store. It lives all over the place in nature.

So if you are just interested in looking for some unicellular organisms on your own, start with a sample of water. Increase the populations by putting a container of pond or lake water in moderate light and adding some boiled hay or some cooked seeds. Pretty soon the container will be overrun with all kinds of life.
