I think he got in a comfort zone and it will be a little tough to reverse it. I mean try baby steps first let him walk and explain can you do that for mommy I want you to walk by my side holding my hand no running if you do this there will be concequences such as time out if you believe in that or taking favorite blanket, no toys, tv etc. Of course he will walk but don't expect 4 him not to get tired he will and that's when you pop up with the stroller. you can even have the easy skinnny ones.

It's really up to you to be honest. If it makes life easier I say more power to you. I know some people who take strollers to hold bags and what not even though their children are like 8 or 9. Not a huge deal. I think you'll find that in a few years he'll no longer want to use the stroller or want you to carry him.

My three-year-old still hops in the stroller on long walks. We have a Baby Trend Sit and Stand stroller for her and her baby brother (9 months).
I live in the theme park capital of the the world. There's no way her little legs are going to take her around the World Showcase at Epcot more than once.

It's fine that your 3 year old would want to ride the stroller when he gets tired. But when he is closer to 4 years old, I would just try to get him to walk more and use less and less of the stroller. Take more breaks, stop when he gets tired. He knows his limit and hopefully isn't dependent on the stroller.

I plan on letting my son utilize the stroller until he is around age three. After that point I feel he would be capable of (and would most likely prefer!) walking.
However, we also have a wagon which I plan to continue using for events such as the state fair, where we will be walking all day and he may eventually tire out.

I would let him ride in the stroller until he decides he no longer wants to ride in it, or until he will no longer fit in it. I would ask him every now and then, if he would like to walk a bit and then ride some more, but I see nothing wrong with letting him ride. He WILL reach a time when he decides he is too big to ride in it anymore! Best to make it easier on yourself when you can.

If you want him to walk, prepare him to walk. Tell him that you are only going to stay as long as he can walk. Hopefully he will be so caught up in the zoo he won't notice how long he has been at it.
Otherwise, bring the stroller and leave it in the car, but don't let him know you have it. Tell him you forgot it, and that he has to walk today. Once he does it once, you know he can do it again and again.
Good luck to you.
