Tell her to go into a room with a lock--bathroom? Closet?--lock the door, and call 911 (in the US) or whatever emergency number applies where you live.
She should not challenge a thief, as he could be armed.

She should grab her cell phone and run out of the house while calling 911. She should wait in a neighbors house or out in the street until the cops arrive!

She should call 911 of course. I took a firearms class and keep a weapon. I hope I will never have to use it. I'd verbally confront an intruder first. But I won't leave my house. I worked for everything I have, and it belongs to only me.

Pull out your knife,gun or pepper spary that you alwas carry for protection and conceal it before you decide to use it. Be very quiet. If you don't have your own weapon(s) with you find something hard or sharp that you can use to hit or stab with,this will be a good lerning experience for you if you survive it.
