I have a $403 unpaid hospital bill on my credit report from 3 yrs ago. Will it just go away after 7 years if I never pay it?

Yes, If someone who bought the account reposts it that is basically illegal, and the collections agency can lose their license. It is 7 years from the last action on the original account. And lets not forget the statute of limitations, in most cases runs out after 4-5 years. SO if these collection agency's decide to take you to court, bring up the old SOL, they will lose

In 7 years + 180 days yes it will be gone. If they get a judgment though, that will last 7 yrs + 180 from the judgment. Why not just pay it?

Nope. It'll just get sold to another collection agency and the 7 years will start again fresh. This can go on forever until you pay it.

It all depends on whether or not the account gets sold to another agency. If it does, the account is still considered open, and the clock starts again from day one minute one, rather than the 3 years you've already got.

Dont listen to these other two ..it will fall off after seven years!
and if they do sell it to another agency you can still dispute it thru the credit bureas and it will be deleted.
