LDS EXPERT!!!!!!!! That makes me LAUGH. You call your self an expert. You know that Polygomy was NEVER in the Book Of Mormon. Did you know that he did rape and did cause forsed marrages between people (what he called the law of selection, which ALSO Is NOT in the book of mormon, and was never practiced by the LDS church. There are no credentials behind you. JEFFS was going AGAINST what is taught in the book of mormon. Look in Alma, where Alma talks to his son about sexual purity. Jeffs went past that. He was not following that part of the book of mormon. When polygomy was introduced in the church it was by means of supporting one another, not for sex or sexual reasons. Once they got to utah, this form of Protection was recalled. Jeffs didn't live by that. He went and did what he wanted. There had been so many times where Incest has been reported in Jeff's Church. I beleve that you shouldn't call your self an expert unless you know what you are talking about.

You are NOT any latter-day expert. If you can say "Why are we convicting Warren Jeffs for crimes of rape when he was only preaching the Book of Mormon?" and mean it, then you don't know jack about the Book of Mormon. Or the history of the LDS church, or Joseph Smith, or anything else.
If you want to put the Book of Mormon on trial, then I suggest you READ it first.

Warren Jeffs was not teaching what was in the Book of Mormon or what Joseph Smith taught through what was revealed to him from God. Polygamy was only practiced by those so designated, because they had the means of caring for more than one wife. Those that were so designated, did it reluctantly, but believed that this was a commandment given by God at the time. Warren Jeffs is on trial, not just for practicing plural marriage, but also for child molestation, a crime against his own nephew. The church headed by President Hinckley does not practice plural marriage anymore. We believe that President Woodruff was inspired to end the practice of polygamy. No true Latter Day Saint practices it, even to this day. Anyone that confesses to it is more than likely to be asked to give up the extra wives and still be disciplined, usually excommunicated.
gatita_63109: if the scriptures you are stating, especially in Deuteronomy, then the books after are then condemned since they have been added to the Torah (5 books of Moses). That also includes the Gospels and Epistles in the New Testament. Remember or read a little more on your history, the canon that we have today was not totally put together and in English form until 1611, commissioned by King James I. There are many books that were left out know as the Apocrypha, usually used, and I might be mistaken, by the Catholic faith. There are accounts in the scriptures of lost books. The scriptures in Deut. and Rev. are only talking about that particular book and not the whole canon. Also, The Book of Mormon is not an addition to the Holy Bible, but a companion to it that continues to testify the Jesus is the Christ. The true messiah who would be born of a virgin, reteach the Gospel to the multitude, be betrayed, judged falsely, and then die on the cross sinless and guiltless. He would after three days in the tomb, defeat death and be resurrected.
skylur44: your rants and defaming remarks do not help your so-called cause of informing people. It only makes people more curious about our beliefs and want to know the truth. So, keep it up. I hope your rhetoric makes more people even more curious. You have freedom of speech, and that also is granted to anyone that wants to make of fool of them by blatantly spouting off lies and half truths.
I hope you both can find some peace of mind someday by doing more research and actually asking a true LDS who is very knowledgeable in our faith.
Thank you for the question and allowing me to hopefully set the record straight.

"All Jeffs did was preach the teachings of the Book of Mormon, the history book of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. If anything should be on trial it should be the Book of Mormon!
-LDS Expert"
Oh really!? LDS Expert eh? Though it is against my LDS religion to gamble I would have to problem betting you $1,000 dollars that you wouldn't be able to find one verse, yea one SENTENCE that advocates polygamy.
If you are as foolish as you demonstrate to be you would take me up on such a bet as there doesn't exist any such passages.
Polygamy in the LDS church wasn't instituted by stipulation of the Book of Mormon. It was introduced by revelation found in the D&C.
Also, Mr. LDS Expert, you may want to cite where in LDS publication rape is advocated. You more than likely are assuming that the accessory to rape charge on Jeffs by virtue of polygamy itself. You however are wrong. Polygamy is only rape (as is monogomy) when there is a disreguard to consent.

If you were a true "LDS Expert" you would know that the doctrine of plural marriage is not found in the Book of Mormon. If fact it says that the practice was not authorized at that time and place.

So it's been awhile since I read the BofM, but where in there does it condone the rape of young people? Even so it's wrong and Jeffs is an evil man.

Warren Jeffs is a child rapist...there is nothing lower on the scale of human depravity. The book of morons, sorry, mormons should be burned and banned and all its followers banned as well. mormons are a sick child sex abuse cult that should be stopped and all members jailed. I had to drive through utah once on my way to Colorado and I would never repeat the experience; a weirder, more disturbed group of poeple I never want to meet agsain, UGH. The entire state is exactly like the men in the woods in Deliverance that attacked Ned Beatty and Jon Voigt.

Joseph Smith claimed the Book of Mormon to be equal to the Bible. We read in the word of God the following scriptures:
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Deuteronomy 12:32
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deuteronomy 4:2
Revelation 22:18-19
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
The apostle Paul reiterated this admonition in Galations 1:8, 9, " But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
How much plainer can it get? Which is the truth? The Holy, inerrant Word of Almighty God or a book written by a mere man? The Bible tells us that holy men of God wrote under the direction of the Holy Ghost, whereas Joseph Smith claims to have been given this message by the angel, Moroni. When Paul tells us not to be deceived by even an angel from heaven what do you think he means? A curse has been placed upon all who change God's word.
One other thought, how can someone believe in marriage for all time and eternity when Jesus Himself told the Sadducees that there is no marrying or giving in marriage in Heaven. Mark 12:25 states the words of the Lord Jesus Christ: "25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven."
Who is telling the truth? Joseph Smith or the Lord Jesus
Christ? Remember, "...all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Rev. 21:8
As for the claim that plural marriage was only for the protection of women and their children, there is no evidence to prove that. Brigham Young and the first band of Mormon pioneers came to the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847.
It was the 45th state admitted to the union, on January 4, 1896. In order for Utah to become a state polygamy had to be abolished on the orders of the US government. The LDS church complied, however protesters to this formed the FDLS group.
