I suppose it doesn't count that Joshua was the son of Nun?

From a Pagan..
Nuns, can enter the vocation at any time in their life. They could even have been married and had children. If their husband dies they may enter the vocation. If they have children, the children must be grown. Being a virgin is not an absolute rule in becoming a Nun.

There is really nothing controversial about a woman who selects to serve her God under the above circumstances.

Hard to do since Nuns aren't in the Bible.

Just because a person is a Nun, doesn't mean she is a virgin. Depends on what she's done before she became a nun, but, she definitely should be celibate afterwards.
