Put "Shoots its own wounded" into Google, and see what happens.
Yes, there are many, many, honourable exceptions: individuals, organisations, congregations....
And many such cope with the mentally ill because they have gravitated to them as a last resource.
But so many have encountered just the opposite.
Faced with preachers and congregations which insist that to be a Christian is to be full of joy, those who are not joyful have to hide, to act, or to slink away uncomforted.
I experienced one church where not wearing a smile was enough to draw attention, and not for positive help and concern except for the rectification of the "unhelpful" appearance.
And the leapfrog assumption that depression or other problems must be about "unresolved sin" was just frightening in its oversimplification.
Verdict on the Christian religion in this area?
Could do better. And doing less harm would be good, too.

There many illnesses and problems across the world ; that Christians and non-Christians are struggling to understand the cause and to help the victims. Pray for the victims of these medical and social diseases, and pray for mankind that we learn how to help these people.

This is an excellent question and one that deserves study. I imagine some Christian denominations are more open to medical solutions than others which, as you point out, will tell people they just need to pray more. I don't have any experiences but would like to hear what others have to say.

my brother is bi-polar and manic depressive. my church has been along with us every step of the way. to help with the medications to the doctor's appointments. to even when he "spikes".
with God we believe that all things are possible. God has given people the ability and the mind to help my brother and millions of others who are going through depression or any kind of mental illness.

There are Christian based hospitals all across this country currently treating mental illness along with other diseases. .I can't think of a single major city that doesn't have one.

One main tool of the Christian religion is guilt, and that causes a great deal of mental illness. The damage that it produces can last with a person for their whole life. They just blame evil if the person suffers problems, and don't face up to the damage their own dogma causes.
