In the crafts there are many books that may be assigned the title sacred. The reason such is true is because these are books that bring the work and thought of their writer to the next generation. Some call these journals, "The Book of Shadows." Therefore all who name themselves, Wiccans, Witches, Crafters, and of The Lore have Sacred Books that are not composed of catch phrases and fables, but of facts.

No. Plenty of religions have no sacred books, and I can't think of any religion that holds a sacred book in as much esteem as Jews, Christians and Muslims.

I personally don't think so. I am a Druid and we have no sacred book. While it may seem to be a good idea to have a sacred book to help guide the followers of a particular religion, unless it is updated regularly it seems to me that it becomes increasingly irrelevent to people's lives in many areas. Of course, this is only my view, and I mean no disrespect to anyone.

Some religions obviously do. Some, like mine, don't. Frankly, I'm suspicious of any religion that uses one source for all its rules, dogma, and beliefs. That's putting your whole life in the hands of whoever wrote that book. I'd rather take responsibility for myself than rely on some stranger to tell me how to live.

Yes that way it is easier to keep the faith other then word of mouth and if you have questions you can look to the book and have a unedited answer rather then holy men whose opinions vary

Wicca does quite wonderfully well without any religious books -- our "sacred text" is nature itself.

To grow within there religion and learn more about their God, yes. It's a way of the holy one to communicate with us, and help us through things besides praying.
