Hey, I really need help to determine if one of my best guy friends likes me as more than just a friend. We've known each other for like 5-ish years and been good friends for like 2. Whenever we hang out (everyday in the summer and every weekend basically--except for when we're in college) it's in a group setting, but we have hung out just us a few times. He knows I like him, but I personally didn't tell him or talk to him about this. Even after he found out he didn't act like awkward around me at all. The way he acts in general towards me confuses me too...if you need more info just let me know. Any advice will greatly help! The thing is, we're not 'going out' or dating or anything like that. Also, the last time my friend brought something up about "us", he said that he wouldn't want a relationship with us going away to college and when he doesn't have a lot of money to spend. Do you think he said that just to be nice, or did he actually mean that maybe something will happen later?

Well, he treats me with more...respect I think I'd call it. He'll listen to what I tell him to do more than the other 3 girls we hang out with. Like if I ask him to turn off a song that he wants to listen to, he'll turn it off. He'll make fun of me here and there but never in a belittling way (usually). Although, out of the group we hang with, I'm the smartest (4th in my graduating class) so I don't know if he treats me differently because of this. Also, he beats up on the other girls 'cause they are shorter and kind of helpless. I however, am almost as tall as him and pretty strong and not tickleish. Again, I don't know if he doesn't beat on me because he respects me or is intimidated by me. We talk about a lot of things ranging from current events and our opinions on them to music to basically anything else. Oh, he surprises me a lot too by how much he remembers stuff that I tell him about myself, but he also remembers things about our other friends.

I'm sure he really likes you and respects you as a friend, and your friendship sounds very similar to one that I have, but I doubt that he likes you any more than that. If you're interested though, I don't think that he'd turn down a relationship with you as you clearly sound interested enough in him.

Ask him out, say "do you want to spend some time together just me and you and see what happens my friend"
