I guess I'd want to know why you want to sent the tip anonymously.

If there is a child in legitimate danger then you have a legal, moral and ethical responsibility to report it to the proper authorities without regard to anonymity. Children are helpless victims and if you are permitting that child to remain in danger for a moment longer than necessary, then you must realize that should something happen to that child, you will have some culpability in the results.

If it is a neighbor or a family member, so what? There is a child or children in a dangerous or potentially dangerous situation. When I lived in Chicago, my neighbor was abusing her kids - her boy came to my house and showed me the black and blue marks. I called child protective services and drove the kid to the police station myself. She threatened me and even sent a guy to my house to beat me up - turned out I knew him and when he got to my door, I opened it and he looked me in the eye, and he just couldn't do it.

I moved. Out of state. It was worth packing every single box, the personal cost and the inconvenience of moving to a strange city with no job. I saved a child from a sick person and I sleep damned good at night.

I beg of you - do the right thing. Make the call.

We do have that in Texas--I've used the internet form before, as well as the phone lines. But I can't find any online forms for the SC CPS--here's their site:

http://www.state.sc.us/dss/cps/index.html

Using the hotline isn't nearly as intimidating as I thought it would be--the only problem is that sometimes you have to wait a long time, because so many people are calling. But the people on the other side are very nice and professional--it's not like calling a credit card 1800 number, or anything like that. If you call the number on the site, they might know the link you would need to go to for SC online reports. It's different for every state, so that makes it more complicated.

You can always be anonymous, btw, so that's not a problem. I'm not sure they even asked my name--maybe my first name. They might ask your relationship to the child, but if you don't want to say you don't have to. I called to report my mom, because she was abusing my little siblings. She tried like crazy to find out who reported her, but couldn't find out. And if my mom can't find out, no one can, believe me! She's way too good at finding out secrets.

If you use the Internet they might still be able to find you. I would suggest just sending a letter.
