Use a treble hook with a 6" wire leader..Thread the Chicken Liver onto the treble sliding it down the wire leader..Helps if the Liver is partially frozen (Now you have three hooks holding the Livers instead of just one). I set up about 6-8 of these each trip then take along the panty hose squares in case I run out of the pre-baited treble hooks...Works for me...

Of all the answers above I vote for keeping it cold. I do this myself, when it gets hot it gets very mushy, but if you keep it in a cooler semi frozen it stays on the hook while casting.
I always use treble hooks too, one method to try also if it's completely thawed is to wrap the liver around the treble hook. the liver has a gristle in it and by wrapping it around the hook then pushing it down onto the hook points this helps keep it on.
One more suggestion: I have heard of people using nylon stocking material to make little bag like pouches by cutting it in circles then placing the liver in it then pulling up the edges of the nylon circle and hook this on the treble hook
Catch a big one!

Keep the liver in a semi-frozen state when hooking it on to a small treble hook. I separate a tub of liver into small portions and freeze them. Put them in a ice chest and go fishing. The liver stays in good form while casting out and sinking to the bottom.

Magic Thread: Is a product that comes on a small spool. It is elastic thread that will stretch and stick to itself after repeated wraps and will work very good for wrapping over a good size piece of chicken liver and you don't even have to tie it off at the end. call some tackle shops in your area to find it or look online.

You can use spawn sack material which is not much different than using the pantyhose idea and use like in these diagrams. Just runn a hook through the middle leaving hook point barely exposed to insure a good hookset.

HERE IT IS: ------> 1. tie a swivel on your line. 2. take a treble hook and stick the eye (where you tie the line) up through the liver. 3. clip the swivel onto the hook.
the liver WILL NOT come off... not even in swift water.

all joking aside, take panty hose cut it to fit the chicken liver in it, wrap it up and hook it, and man...you are ready to fish! the panty hose wont tear so you can go longer on a single peice of bait.
